Happy Sunday!
Thought I’d chat about my ✨2027✨plans and goals for my meat rabbits.🐇

Main goal is probably pretty obvious; provide some healthy meat for my family. Meat that is humanly dispatched, lovingly cared for, and not full of crap.🙃

More specific goals under that are:

- Make my own “lunch meat”
I saw a post on instagram, where a lady made her own lunch meat, and I found the tools she used and I’m hoping to do the same with some rabbit meat! I LOVE cold cut deli/lunch meat.😍 but the stuff at the store is high in carcinogens apparently.🥲

- Fill 1/3 of my chest freezer space
I’d love to hear from other meat breeders if this sounds like a feasible goal?? I feel like it should be, if the rabbits breed like rabbits! (Iykyk) I don’t plan on selling any from my meat program at this time, so everything produced will be food.

- Try making some canned cat food
I hear so many bad things about store bought cat food, and would like to see if I can make something healthier, at the same or under cost. 🤷🏼‍♀️ we will see!

I will have one litter this fall if all goes well, and will butcher early next year. But, in the future I am going to plan breedings and grow outs to begin early spring, end by November. This way grow outs can have more naturally sourced forage, and weather is nice for processing. Only reason I have to have a litter this fall, is because that’s when my doe reaches breeding age, and you don’t want to wait too long to let them have that first litter for health reasons. More on that another time!

And of course, always keeping the best back to help improve the breed and maintain healthy lines, and better meat yield.🤍😉

Good morning!
I’ve been busy this week planning out some content ideas I’ve had for a while. Trying to get them all typed out and scheduled. I’d like to have a plan and schedule for my content on this page.🫠 We will see if I can stick to it! 😂

I want to do Sundays and Wednesdays as educational/conversational content, and then Mondays and Fridays will be things like, “comment and I’ll engage with your page” type posts. 🤍 Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays will be no post days. I’ll still be active, just not posting!

I also need to figure out what I want to do with my group, and actually be more active on there.😅 What do you guys do with your fb groups??

I’ll also be getting a new addition in a couple weeks.🫣 I’m SO excited!

We will see how it goes!

I made a couple for me, and a couple to try and sell locally. If they don’t sell, I’ll happily keep them for myself lol!😉🐇

Tulip and Flander won’t be old enough until Oct/Nov.

And it won’t be until January before I *might* have some plush lop babies. 🥲

On that note though, I’m hoping to have a MPL doe in the next couple months. Getting transport figured out right now, but I’m SO excited about her! 🫣

So, nothing really for exciting content over here for a bit. I’ll probably make some educational posts about herbs for rabbits. 🐇

I’ve got some wire coming this week to build a couple new cages. Looking forward to that!
