Summer sore (habronemiasis) is a condition in horses caused by Habronema larvae transmitted by flies. The larvae are deposited on skin wounds, eyes, or ge***al areas, leading to intense inflammation, non-healing ulcerative lesions, pruritus, and excessive granulation tissue. La celulitis es una inflamación aguda del tejido subcutáneo, generalmente causada por una infección bacteriana. Es un problema clínico frecuente que puede afectar a caballos de cualquier edad y raza. Se presenta comúnmente en las extremidades, especialmente las posteriores.

Suele ser causada por bacterias que ingresan a través de una ruptura en la piel, como:
-Cortes, abrasiones o pinchazos.
-Heridas por punción (como clavos o espinas).
-Inyecciones intramusculares mal aplicadas.
-Mordeduras de insectos (moscas, garrapatas).

Signos clínicos:

-Hinchazón repentina en una extremidad (una sola en la mayoría de los casos).
-Calor, dolor y sensibilidad a la palpación.
-Cojera marcada o reluctancia a moverse.
-Fiebre
-Pérdida de apetito y letargo.
