Stellar Farms & Stockdogs

Stellar Farms & Stockdogs Stellar Cattle Dogs firmly believe in working dogs that can be great family dogs too! Our dogs are AKC registered, health tested, and herding instinct tested.

Stellar Cattle Dogs work hard and love their jobs! We use our dogs on the farm almost daily. They are our companions as well as our workers. All of our dogs work with a lot of natural ability and live for making us happy! We believe in health testing and doing everything we can to better the breed. Our dogs are tested for hip dysplacia, PRCD, and are BAER tested. Come on by and check us out! We love talking about dogs and showing ours off.

Pickle is here for a tune up while she waits for the right situation to come along. She hasn't been worked since she attended a clinic in October. I'm really happy with how she came right in, ready to work, and had her head on straight.

It's been a busy week! Laverne got a bandage change and check up. Dr Hayden is very happy with how her bandages held up and we will rescan in 3 weeks. Also how did our lamb, born on April Fools Day, end up with a broken leg and a heart on her b***y?
Also, bought the dogs a new toy? Activity? Project? Goats! Not getting into anything new. They are all billies that we will castrate. Just something fun for us to have to train on for the summer!

Let me tell you about Pickle... She is from our Rash X Rave litter in October of 2022. She is fully vetted, spayed, crate and kennel trained.
Pickle has a fun personality and enjoys playing ball and going for outings to Lowe's and the local coffee shop.
She had had approximately 90 days herding training at Outline Australian Cattle Dogs - Farm and Stockdog Training . She will fetch stock and her bite is more heel focused. She takes a firm handler that will be clear and consistent. Pickle has not done stock work for awhile so a tune up would be needed for her to be handy again. A link to her training playlist can be found below.
Pickle can be dog selective and has had ongoing issues in her current home with another dog. I want to be transparent about this and will discuss in detail with serious parties.
Pickle is a herding dog that was bred purposely to have drive and grit. She will need handlers that are consistent and will lay down clear boundaries for her. She is very, very sweet and has a lot of love and devotion to give but is not going to be for someone who wants a couch potato or a dog to lay in the yard and watch their chickens.
She currently lives in SW Missouri.

As it turns out, one of the F1 lambs had a leg fracture. Laverne was already a bottle baby so it there won't be much of an adjustment period, besides wearing a cast. You got this girl! Vet says about a month before we rescan to see how she's healing.

On a lighter note, this morning my daughter walked into the kitchen, just waking up, and said, "I thought I heard you making breakfast." I replied, "no, I'm making bottles for the lambs."

I know I post a lot of the good of farming on here. But let me tell you, there are many days where it's just freaking hard. Yesterday morning we were hit by the worst hail storm that I can remember, in my lifetime. We suffered damage to my truck, the house, farm supplies, and most likely some out buildings. All things that are replaceable. We can deal with that.
I'm sick to my stomach. Yesterday, I was fighting tears that I think the adrenaline kept at bay. We have 4 lambs that were injured by the hail. All to different severity. And as life has it, all of the injured lambs were our F1 Australian White lambs. We have invested a lot in these guys. They've been seen by the vet and we are praying for the best.
It's so hard to understand why things like this happen, and I'm not going to try to. All we can do is try everything that we can to help them heal.
Pray for all those in the nation that have been affected by the crazy storms this spring. It seems to have been a hard year for it so far.

Some of my favorites of the F1 Australian White lambs! Got some stout ram lambs growing out. Dang proud of the brown ewe raising a set of F1 triplets, too!
Rams will be for sale off the farm, after weaning early July, and the ewes will be consigned to The Legacy Australian White sale in Springfield, in September.
