If you want a dog who can keep herself entertained, Destiny is your girl!

Destiny has mastered the art of throwing her own toy and then chasing after it. She loves when a human tosses it for her, but she's perfectly happy entertaining herself too!

Destiny has been at the shelter since late June, and we honestly can't understand why she's still here. The only thing we can think of is her coat color.

Black dogs, especially black Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes, are often overlooked in shelters due to "Black Dog Syndrome" and negative breed stereotypes. But Destiny is so much more than the color of her coat or what breed you think she might be. She's a playful, fun-loving girl who deserves a chance!

Destiny is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She's ready for her forever home!

Yukon has been adopted.

ZIGGY, MURPHY AND YUKON are at PETSENSE, 3734 Mike Padgett Hwy, Augusta GA until 3 today. These boys are from Augusta Animal Services and hoping a family will stop by and give them a loving home. Last nights post has information on each pup.

Here comes the Jaeger-bomb!

Meet Jaeger, a 2 year old Lab/Hound mix with a big personality and plenty of energy to share!

Jaeger has lots of get-up-and-go and is always ready for his next adventure, but he has also shown us that he knows how to settle down and relax. He hasn't shown much interest in toys during his time here, but he does appear to be food motivated, which can be a great way to keep his mind busy and help with training.

Shelter life can be stressful, and we know Jaeger would love the chance to get out of the kennel and into a home where he can decompress, learn, and really show his personality. With a little patience, consistency, and a whole lot of love, Jaeger could make a wonderful companion.

Jaeger is already neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccines. He is ready to find his forever family!

TOMORROW these four (4) lucky pups will get a few hours away from the shelter with the hope of going home with a new family. All of them get along with other dogs and are good with children as well. They are up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and the adults Heartworm tested. If you have been considering adopting a new furry friend we will be at PETSENSE, 3734 Mike Padgett Hwy, Augusta GA from 12-3. Each pup adopted will go home with a collar, harness, leash and a goodie bag. ADOPTION FEE $20 (cash).

In addition Hands To Paws will be available to microchip any current pet.

Volunteers from Augusta Animal Services are taking four (4) shelter dogs to PETSENSE hoping they will meet their new families. The pups pictured (Ziggy, Murphy, Toast and Yukon) in the flyer will be in attendance. We will post additional information about each pup tonight around 8 pm. In addition Hands To Paws will be on site and available to microchip your current pet. We hope you will stop by. Please help spread the word.

Meet Estrella, she’s still waiting for her second chance.

Estrella was adopted from AAS in mid-February, but through no fault of her own, she was returned a little over a month ago. Since then, she’s been patiently waiting for someone to choose her again.

Just under a year old, Estrella is listed as a Pit Mix, though we suspect she may have some Boxer in her. She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and ready for a family of her own.

Adoption fee: $75

It’s time to get jiggy with it at Augusta Animal Services! You’re thinking get jiggy with what?, GET JIGGY WITH ZIGGY!!!! Picture this, 18 dogs in the building ALL of them are barking/jumping for attention, they are a bit chaotic, EXCEPT for one. In the midst of kennel chaos, Ziggy is just standing there, “quiet”, watching to see if you will choose to take him out. It just so happened I planned to spend time with Ziggy today and he didn’t disappoint, we had a great time. Ziggy is a 5 year old, Pittie Mix, and weighs 52lbs. He walks well on leash (video in comments), gently takes treats, enjoys a few toys, rides well in a car, is gentle at play, doesn’t jump, may be housebroken and he likes hanging out with his people. He gets along with other dogs, he seems to be okay with cats (cat test video in comments) and we are confident he will be loving and kind with children. He is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and Heartworm (+).

Heartworm disease IS treatable and Ziggy’s adopter will be provided with 6 months (possibly 12 months) of slow kill meds at no cost to assist in continuing his current slow kill treatment.

Another day, another return... again.

Toodleloo is back at the shelter for a third time. After being adopted out during Home for the Holidays last December, she was then adopted out in June again. She got bigger than her new family was expecting and started to knock over the children in the home. The family informed us that with her energy level they think that she should go home with children at least 10 years old.

Toodleloo does have a lot of energy! A regular exercise routine would help with that however! We believe she has some German Shepherd in her which would make her a working breed dog who needs enrichment. One 15 minute walk a day will not do for her.

Toodleloo is believed to be less than a year old, spayed, Heartworm negative and microchipped.

Her adoption fee is $75

91 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Pumpkin has been waiting 91 days for someone to choose him, and honestly, we don't know why.

Pumpkin is a handsome, 50 lb brindle Pit Bull mix with a playful personality and a whole lot of love to give.

When Pumpkin first gets out of his kennel, he is ready to RUN! He will spend the first few minutes zooming around the play yard, enjoying his freedom. At that point, you might as well not exist, unless you pull out a toy! A good game of fetch or some playtime is the perfect way to help him burn off some of that extra energy.

Once Pumpkin gets those zoomies out, you will see his softer side. This sweet boy turns into a total love bug, rolling over and soaking up belly rubs.

Pumpkin is heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and microchipped. He is ready to leave the shelter and start his next chapter with a family of his own.

Pumpkin deserves a family who will give him the love, patience, exercise, and care he needs. He has been waiting long enough. Could you be the person who finally gives him his forever home?
