Massachusetts Feline Intervention Alliance, Inc. We are a small non-profit cat rescue run by volunteers and donations from our amazing supporters! MA-F.I.A.

is a non-profit 501(c)3, foster-based, all volunteer, cat rescue group. On a daily basis, our volunteers provide homeless cats and kittens with nourishment, medical treatment, affection, and most of all, help in finding them a loving home. Organizations like ours help the people and cats in our city and surrounding communities. We work hard to network with other local groups, animal shelters and people when a cat or kitten is in need. Our rescue relies solely on the donations from our caring and devoted supporters. Without this, we would not be able to help the cats in need in our community.

🐈‍⬛ A simple day turned into an amazing rescue story. 🖤

They say black cats crossing your path are bad luck. We beg to differ. Sometimes, they’re a sign that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. 🐾❤️

On her way home from work, one of our amazing new fosters encountered a woman who could no longer care for a black cat and was about to dump her on the side of the road in the woods. Covered in scabs and missing nearly half her fur, this poor girl was in rough shape. Our foster told the woman to hand over the cat or she would call the police. Thankfully, the woman handed her over, and this little girl got her chance at a better life. 🖤

She was malnourished, stressed, and frightened. As we would soon discover, she was also pregnant! 🤰🐈

It took time, patience, and a whole lot of love for her to begin trusting her new surroundings and feeling safe. But slowly, she started to settle in. Now, we wait for her little ones to arrive and wonder just how many extra lives were saved because someone chose to step in that day. 🐾❤️

We are so incredibly thankful to our new foster for reaching out to MA-F.I.A. for help, guidance, and support. She could have walked away, but instead, she became this girl’s lifeline.

Who knows how this story might have ended if she hadn’t stopped to help? And who knows how many tiny lives will soon enter the world because of that one decision?

🖤 Black cats aren’t bad luck. They’re little miracles waiting for someone to give them a chance.

Welcome to the MA-F.I.A. family, sweet girl. We can’t wait to meet your babies! 🐈‍⬛🐾🏡

🦉🐱 Have you ever met a Me-owl before? 🐱🦉

These rare and magical creatures are truly something special. They enjoy perching, watching, judging… and occasionally pretending they’re far too dignified for all this cat nonsense. 😂 (actual photos of these sweet boys in the comments)

But in all seriousness, these two wonderful brothers from another mother are a bonded pair looking for the right home to call their own. ❤️

They’ve found their way into each other’s hearts, and we want to make sure their next chapter keeps them together. They’re ready to find a family who will appreciate their unique personalities, their special bond, and all the love they have to give.

🦉🐱 Two Me-owls. One forever home. ❤️

Could you be the lucky human they’ve been judging… I mean, waiting for? 😹

Please share and help these handsome boys find their forever home together! 🏡

🐾 “WHO HAS KITTENS?”

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been tagged in countless posts from people looking for kittens.

“Who has kittens?”
“Looking for a kitten.”
“Anyone have kittens?”

And we’re tagged. Other rescues are tagged. Shelters are tagged.

And then… crickets. 🤷‍♀️

No one responds.

Until someone comments:

“I have free kittens!”

Now, don’t get us wrong — “free” can be a great thing. But when it comes to kittens, free isn’t always a good deal. In fact, sometimes it can be the most expensive option of all.

Because the kitten may be free, but the kitten is NOT free to care for. 🐱💰

Let’s talk about what the first year of responsible kitten ownership can actually cost — and this is assuming absolutely nothing goes wrong.

🐾 THE FIRST-YEAR KITTEN COSTS

Veterinary care

• Initial wellness exams: $75–$150+
• Kitten vaccines/boosters: $100–$250+
• Rabies vaccine: $25–$50+
• Feline leukemia vaccine/series: $50–$150+
• F***l testing/deworming: $50–$150+
• Flea/parasite prevention: $100–$200+
• Microchip: $40–$75
• Spay/neuter: $200–$600+
• Routine veterinary care alone can easily reach $600–$1,500+

And then there are the things your kitten needs every single day:

Food: $300–$600+ per year
Litter: $150–$300+ per year
Toys & enrichment: $50–$150+
Scratching posts/cat tree/beds/carrier: $100–$300+
Miscellaneous supplies: $50–$150+

That puts a healthy kitten’s first-year basic expenses somewhere around $1,250–$3,000+ depending on where you live, what you purchase and the level of veterinary care provided.

And remember — that’s with NOTHING going wrong.

No emergency vet visit.
No broken leg.
No respiratory infection.
No parasites that require additional treatment.
No ringworm.
No foreign body.
No surgery.
No congenital issue.
No unexpected illness.

Just… a normal, healthy kitten.

And that is exactly why responsible rescues and shelters don’t simply hand kittens out for free.

When MA-F.I.A. adopts a kitten, our adoption fee helps offset the cost of the veterinary care that has already gone into that kitten — spay/neuter, vaccines, deworming, flea treatment and microchipping — before they ever walk through the door of their forever home.

The adoption fee isn’t a price tag on a life.

It’s a contribution toward responsible care. ❤️

So the next time you see someone asking, “Who has kittens?”, remember that the better question isn’t:

“Who has them for free?”

It’s:

“Where can I adopt a kitten that has been properly vetted and cared for?”

Because kittens aren’t disposable. They aren’t impulse purchases. And they aren’t free.

They are a 15–20 year commitment to another living being. 🐾❤️

Please adopt responsibly. Please spay and neuter. And please think beyond the word FREE.

Last week, a local Animal Control Officer reached out to MA-F.I.A. for help with a mom cat and her five small kittens who were hiding under a utility trailer. 🐈🐾🏠

One of our experienced trapping volunteers took on the challenge, and on the very first day, three of the kittens were safely trapped! 😻📦🎉

But then…nothing. 😿

For the next two days, Mom and the last two kittens were having absolutely NO interest in our plans. 😂 We kept trying, waiting, and watching, knowing a big storm was on the way. ⛈️

Then, on day four, just before the storm was expected to hit, we finally got them! Mom and the last two babies were safely trapped and brought indoors. 🐈‍⬛🐾❤️

Six cats. One very happy rescue team. And, of course, one very full MA-F.I.A.!

We are FULL. Like, really, really full. 😂🐱 But in true MA-F.I.A. fashion, when cats need us, we make it work. We rearranged kittens, shifted cats and foster spaces around, and somehow found a spot for this little family. Because sometimes you just have to make room when you know they need you. ❤️

They are now safe, warm, fed, and settling in. 🏠💤 But taking in six cats at once also means six more hungry bellies, litter boxes, veterinary appointments, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and all the supplies needed to get them healthy and ready for their forever homes. 🥣🧹💉💸

We always say it takes a village, and this is exactly why. If you’d like to help this little family, donations toward food, litter, and veterinary care would be incredibly appreciated. Every bag of food, scoop of litter, and dollar donated helps us continue doing what we do. 🐾❤️

Six more safe. Six more lives given a chance. And one more reminder of why our MA-F.I.A. village matters so much. 🐱🖤

Thank you for always being part of it. ❤️

🐾 SPECIAL FEATURE SUNDAY! 🐾

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Axel & Zippy! 💙

These two handsome boys are looking for their forever homes and a family who will give them the love, patience, and encouragement they need to continue their journey of learning how to cat! 🐱

Both Axel and Zippy came to us as street cats—scared, confused, and unsure about this whole new world. They needed time, patience, and someone to show them that humans could be trusted and that life could be pretty darn good. ❤️

And WOW, have they come! 🥹

They’ve learned so much, discovered their personalities, and are now ready to take the next big step in their journey: finding a home of their very own. 🏡🐾

Axel and Zippy can be adopted together or separately, depending on what’s best for their new families. ❤️

They may need a little patience as they settle in, but we promise these boys are worth it! They just need someone willing to let them go at their own pace and show them what being loved is all about.

✨ Axel & Zippy are ready for their next chapter! ✨

Could you be the person who helps them write it? ❤️

Please share to help these former street cats find the loving homes they’ve been waiting for! 🐾
