Eight years ago today, me and my brother walked through this door for the first time.

We didn’t know what was waiting on the other side. Just that we had each other.

We went through a lot together.

But the home you helped make is still here. Today the doorway is quieter.

It’s not the same without you, Churchill.

The doors stayed open. The breeze never stopped. And our hair was doing whatever the wind wanted that day. 😂🐾

Looking back now, I think the little moments become the big moments.
The sound of the waves.
The salty air.

Hello, friend. It’s been a little while. Healing takes time. Sorry I’ve been quiet. I’m still adjusting to Churchill not being here.

Today I lay in this spot for the first time… just like Churchy used to… keeping an eye on Daddy while he fixed breakfast.

Sometimes I lie in the places he loved. It makes me feel like he’s still here with me. 🐾

Hey friend —
It’s been a minute, so I wanted to say hi and wish you a happy New Year 🐾

It’s very cold here in Georgia. They’re even talking about ice and sleet, which I do not support. I’ve been sitting by the front door, soaking up the sunshine to warm my little body. Best spot in the house.

I do like my walks in the cold though. It makes my heart go fast and I feel extra frisky. I trot with purpose. Still, I’m already dreaming about spring. Laying on the deck, basking in the sun, not doing much of anything.

I’m going to the beauty shop on Friday for a bath and a trim. I will look very handsome. This is a fact.

I hope you’re doing well and staying warm. I’m glad you’re here.

Winston here 🐾. Christmas with the extended family was a great trip. Dad let me go everywhere, even restaurants. I claimed sunny patios, a hotel bed with a bird’s eye window view, and Grandma’s dog park all to myself. Plenty of bouncing around in the portable dog house too. Solid holiday energy.

I’ll tell you this though… I missed my brother Churchill. Dad said his name, and for a second I thought he came back. I perked up, did a little spin, and then… nope. Big feelings. (cry) But I know he’s still sending love my way.

Great trip. Even better to be home in my own bed now. Nothing beats your own blankets and your own quiet.
