ADOPTED! Back in January AGA was tagged in post about a stray dog that had been seen for over a year in Lithonia, GA. It was clear that something was wrong, it appeared the dog had an embedded collar on her neck. A good samaritan decided to help this dog and got support from others. A trap was set and on the first night the dog entered the trap and was secured.
The next day an AGA volunteer met the ladies who trapped her. This young dog was named Rowan by AGA, and now part of the family. We were committed to helping her.
Rowan was taken directly to an emergency vet where the staff was amazing and they admitted her immediately. Her *puppy* collar was indeed embedded and infected. The collar was removed under sedation and cleaned, and she was placed on IV antibiotics and fluids. She went back to the hospital every other day to see the Dr and get her bandages changed. One week later, Rowan’s neck was surgically closed, and she was spayed and - she healed beautifully!
Once recovered, Rowan spent the next couple months learning about living indoors, being part of a pack and being a puppy. Afterall, she is just 1.5 years old and had lived on her own most of that time. She is smart, affectionate, playful and loves being part of the family. We knew she deserves all the love and security her forever family will give her.
Then, that family came. They are previous adopters, dog savvy and have huge hearts for rescue. Rowan, now Dolly, has a mom who works from home, two canine siblings Ben and Ruby, a human who is at college and a dad she adores. Dolly also has an aunt and a canine cousin who visit daily. Dolly has an endless supply of toys, cozy beds, bones, love and never has to worry about being hungry or lonely again. Thank you to everyone who played a role in saving this sweet girl. You are so loved, Dolly!
