Here are a few snippets from Open House šŸ¤

To my friends, my family, our volunteers, my day ones, my people in this pet community

There are so many moments that weren’t captured, but just know they were felt. Like.. truly, truly felt!

This is simply to say thank you.

Thank you to the City of College Park for supporting us and helping make the ribbon cutting so special.
Thank you to Councilwoman Tracy Arnold TRACI4CP for your beautiful words and warm opening!

Thank you to my partner, Richard Saturday for your patience, your partnership, and for building this with me.

Thank you to Brianna and Falon for holding it down at the registration table!!
Thank you to the Legacy team for showing up the way you always do.
Thank you to my cousin, Sherise, for making sure everything was in tip-top shape from beginning to end.
And this beautiful cake from BJ’s Wholesale Club was the perfect touch. The cake was the truth!

Thank you for every gift, every flower, every text, every call. I felt ALL of it.

Shoutout to the businesses who showed up and showed love .atl

And shoutout to my old Briarcliff family 🐾. Seeing you there meant more than I can put into words.

This is what community looks like.
This is what Legacy is built on.

I’m really just sitting in gratitude for all of it šŸ¤

Today I had the honor of speaking with students from the International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA) about cultural intelligence in veterinary medicine. šŸŒšŸ¾

What struck me the most wasn’t just how many countries were represented… it was how much there still is for all of us to learn from one another.

Some things that feel incredibly nuanced in the United States are understood very differently in other parts of the world. And that’s not a barrier — it’s an invitation. An invitation to listen, stay curious, and grow together.

When we create spaces where people from Malaysia, Slovakia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Ghana, Hong Kong and beyond can share perspectives, we start to see something powerful:

Our love for animals may look different across cultures, but the compassion behind it connects us.

Thank you to IVSA for the invitation and for creating a global community of veterinary students committed to learning from each other and building bridges across cultures.

The future of veterinary medicine is global — and conversations like this are exactly how we get there.

The signs are going up… and it’s starting to feel real.

Today we installed our door sign and wall sign, and spent time with the team doing training and getting everything ready behind the scenes. The energy in the building is incredible. Every step we take is about making sure Legacy feels welcoming, runs smoothly, and is ready to care for your pets at our very best.

We’re counting down to opening, and we can’t wait to meet the pets and families of this community.

Join the waiting list so you can stay in the loop and be the first to hear updates about our Open House & Community Block Party on April 18th (2–5 PM). We have some fun surprises planned, along with free giveaways and exciting programs we’ll be sharing soon.

Join the list at: www.mylegacyvet.com

We’re getting everything ready for you. 🐾

I wasn’t sure what to expect walking into my talk at Iowa State University.

But Iowa State students, you amazed me! And I mean it!

We talked about the lens we practice through as veterinarians, about cultural intelligence, and about what it really means to be thoughtful, effective clinicians.

Medicine, yes please!
Compassion, yes please!
Reflections, yes please!

The engagement, the questions, the insight, and the depth of reflection reminded me why this work matters.

Thank you for welcoming me onto your campus, for challenging the conversation, and for allowing me to share my perspective and wisdom with you.

I will forever have a soft spot for Iowa State. And know this, if you ever need to phone a friend, I am here.

Until next time. šŸ¤šŸ¾

Ten years ago, I didn’t know I was building the foundation for everything I do now.

I just followed curiosity. Discomfort. Connection.

2016 is when I stopped seeing culture as ā€œdifferenceā€ and started seeing it as context.

Everything I do now comes from that understanding.

2016 made me who I am.
And I’m still becoming

I am hyping y’all up. Yes, you.

To the vet students who just passed the NAVLE, congratulations. Please sit in this moment, enjoy it fully, and protect your joy. Do not let anyone dim what you have worked so hard for or take this away from you. You earned the right to celebrate this season of your life.

To my mentees and to everyone who got into vet school, whether it was your top choice or simply the door that finally opened, I am hyping you up too. This is your moment and you deserve to feel proud of yourself.

And to those who are still waiting on acceptance letters or pass letters, I want you to know that someone else’s celebration does not take away from your future. The people who are celebrating today still want you to win tomorrow (most at least). Let us hype each other up now so that when it is your turn, we can hype you up even louder.

Congratulations now and congratulations in advance.

Not that I feel I have to explain but…

Mentorship is not exclusion.
People often seek guidance from those they see themselves in & that’s human, not harmful.

I mentor anyone who asks.
I also choose to pour intentional energy into supporting diversity in veterinary medicine, because I know what it’s like to come up without that support.

Both things can be true.
