Pet Sitters BEWARE!

My banking experience and my spidey senses are at work after responding to a request that is scammy! Stick to your professionalism & policies, your pricing, procedures and your intuition.

Watch out for pet care requests that have red flags like these below:

🚩RED FLAGS:

🚩Requesting on social platforms but don’t want to call/talk; only email.

🚩Name on profile doesn’t match name in email response they sent.

🚩Email address is “suspicious”.

🚩Situation described tugs on your compassion and seems urgent but seems “off”.

🚩Requests more personal information about YOU than necessary.

🚩Tries to entice you with large sums of money upfront as pay and/or to purchase items for pet without ever meeting them or pet, yet.

🚩Relocating/ pet being shipped to address ahead of them & wants you to care for the pet.

🚩Wants a pet pro but not utilizing professional processes you have in place.

🚩Asks questions you’ve already answered or are available on your website to view, as directed.

Today is Thank Your Pet Sitter Day, a day created by Pet Sitters International to recognize the professional pet sitters and dog walkers who care for pets when their families can’t be there.

Pet siitters and dog walkers become part of your pet’s routine, the familiar face they see while you’re away, the person making sure medications are given, litter boxes are clean, water bowls are full and pets are happy.

Just as important, we’re also looking out for the little things behind the scenes—keeping homes secure, noticing changes in behavior or health and making sure everything is just as it should be until you return. We don't take your trust in us for granted.

Today is simply a reminder to pause and appreciate the role professional pet care plays in helping families travel, work, and live their lives with peace of mind.

To all of the INCREDIBLE PET SITTERS and DOG WALKERS out there - as a fellow Pet Care Provider, I'd like to say THANK YOU for the care, patience and dedication you bring to every visit!

Yesterday, a teenager had posted a pic of her dog, Leo who would be celebrating his 2nd birthday today. She asked for people to show some love to him online and if possible, donate new or gently used dog toys to him.

Today we met at Starbucks for me to give Leo some birthday joy! He got a toy gift box of toys, a bandana, a collar light, bow ties. Immediately, he grabbed a squeaky pig. Now he’s off to get a birthday pup cup! 🐶❤️🎁

It was so nice meeting them and I can see it made his owner happy, too.

Happy birthday, Leo! Enjoy! 🥳🎂

Max is a Maine C**n Cat. Isn’t he handsome?

Max gets seizure medication twice a day. He doesn’t take it in his bowl for me like he does with his family, so I have to administer it by hand. His size and countenance can seem intimidating to most; especially when he doesn’t want to be pilled. I take our opportunities of intense petting, chin wubs and boops as my moment. It happens so fast and the kitty love resumes, so he literally has no chance to resist or block with his paws. We have our own routine and that works just fine for us when we’re together. 😺

Every time I visit, I pull out a variety of his toys and see which he’d like to play with after I medicate him. It’s usually this rope of ribbons. Today, not so much. 😹🤷🏽‍♀️

Summer is doing so well after her leg amputation and mast cell tumor removal. I’m grateful to those who helped make her surgery possible ( Janison, Abby and Dr. Kelly Warner) and to her favorite Petsitter/Dog Auntie, Bryana Hayden! Most of all, I’m thankful for God getting Summer and I through this! All the love and prayers from family, friends and clients were also deeply appreciated.
