Duration work with Cooper, Jude, and Ozzie!

Ozzie learned the down command! She was already familiar with the command but she would do it at her own free will. We had to teach her that it is not an option. We stayed light hearted but also firm. She is intelligent and you can see her working through her options then follows the command. Without the tools a voice did not have any weight with her but as she learns how to respond to the tools we are also giving our voice power

Jude learned the down command! She is beginning to really enjoy these sessions. We keep it positive and playful but when a corrections is needed we provide it. The corrections are early before her energy builds and a we quickly move on. It is important to not live in the past with mistakes that are made. We correct and move on. If a correction is harsh we can go back to the basics and rebuild her confidence. She is sensitive to the prong collar so being aware of her leash pressure will be critical for setting her up for success.

Cooper was learned the down command! He was surprisingly worried about the command at first but we started off slow and build his confidence. We provided him with positive marks and play when a command was followed. He is a sweet boy with insecurities and he needs clear communication for him to be confident in his actions. The ecollar session will be critical for him to really trust the commands he is given!

Ozzie was introduced to the place cot! This session was fundamental for building her confidence in uncertain situations. She had no desire to get on the cot but once she did she realized it is a place where she can relax. The cot will serve as a place she can go for extended periods and let her guard down. With this increasing in confidence there is an increase in her buying into the training and putting her on track to make some major behavioral changes!

Ozzie was introduced to leash pressure! In our previous walks Ozzie acted as if the leash was simply there as something she need to pull through as she pursues what she finds interesting. We started off with lots of grace. This is her first time experience real leash guidance but it grew on her. She can be stubborn but is also sensitive to corrections so correcting early and often is key. If we can stop a behavior before the stimulus passes the threshold of no return we can easily deal with behaviors. Watching her body language is critical and building her confidence will be just as important.
