I’d like to wish a very happy SWEET 16 to Lila!🥳 And 🎉CONGRATULATIONS🎉on her new partnership with Capital Velocity aka “Cappie”!

Cappie has been here for less than 48 hours and I’ve already started calling him Cappuccino, Captain Crunch, Copernicus, Capybara… the nickname options are endless. He seems to be a very laid back and level headed dude. I can’t wait to fatten him up and watch this pair shine!

Lila, I don’t know many young women who have your work ethic and maturity. Name another teenager who feeds horses at the barn BEFORE school three times a week - rain, shine, snow or ice. I’ll wait.

Windsong is so blessed to have you as a vital part of our barn family and I’m excited to be there with you on this journey with your first horse. Thank you for all you do!! I love you!

I’ve been absent on social media because truly this winter I had to hole up and assume the position in full on survival mode. I had some serious health hurdles on top of the worst winter on record in 19 years. It was a doozy to put it nicely.

I don’t want to jinx things, but even with it being 18 degrees this morning when I woke up to feed the horses, the snow is gone and spring is attempting her best to do her thing. The tulips are trying their hardest to peep through the perennial garden and the crocus are fighting the good fight to push their way through the dead leaves along the driveway. Wild turkeys have moved in co-existing with the chickens and the woodpeckers are happily rapping away at the trees.

This winter was the hardest I’ve ever had to endure out here. It forced me to slow down and really evaluate my business and what I want out of life. There’s nothing easy about this lifestyle and then I find myself doing it “alone” as a single mom - it takes a special kind of crazy, grit, and a whole lot of faith.

As the seasons continue to change, so is Windsong. There will be more updates to come but I am excited for what is on the horizon as I continue to connect with my community and share this space while prioritizing raising my wildflower girls. They’re growing so fast and I’m not about to miss it.

Until then, here are some photos of the worst winter ever. I survived but now it’s time to thrive.🌱

Fall is fleeting and full.🍂

We’ve been busy with Ponies & Pastry Camps.

Wrapping up our 2025 show season.

Early sunrises & even earlier sunsets.

Lessons under the lights.

Having friends over to cuddle everyone’s favorite chicken, Bubblegum. Collecting and sharing eggs.

We’ve been healing from loss, change, and training our new farm pup.

I’ve been doing the juggle while allowing myself to prioritize being a mom and “hole-ing up” a bit after an incredibly jam packed summer.

Slowing WAY down to do barn chores with my girls.

Sharing this healing space with some hearts that truly need it.

Buttoning things up for winter.

Stepping into my Carhartts, winter socks, and exhaling telling myself I’ve made it through winter before, I know I can do it again.

I’m leaning into my faith and trusting God in whatever His plans are for us next here on our farm. We are blessed by our community and are grateful for everyone who supports us through every season.

With Kindness,
Lindsay

Fall Finals is right around the corner and we are SO excited! Consider supporting Maine Hunter/Jumper Association but sponsoring a class or division. This helps for us to make the show and prizes extra special for our riders who have been working hard all year long for this event!

This past summer was a blur. It came and went and honestly, I was so stressed half the time juggling what felt like the world on my shoulders, I barely remember enjoying it until it was too late.

I was reading a fellow entrepreneur’s take on summer recently and they nailed it: “Summer in Maine is a whirlwind, almost frantic thing. It arrives so quickly after the last spring snow melts that you sometimes think you can miss it before it has really even gotten started.” Phew.😮‍💨 It’s me. And then with fall and back to school, all of the energy almost seems to come to an abrupt halt. It’s jarring.

I took a few days off* this week to help my oldest get into the back to school routine, to be present, and to be a mom. It was bliss. (*still running around at 5:30am and 5pm usually in pajamas and sandals trying to get animals fed with both kids in tow. Is that “time off”? Asking for a friend.🫩)

Everyone is back in school.
The barn is quiet.
Initially this stark contrast is stressful but I’m reminding myself to enjoy the peace and calm - for each season at the barn is so different but filled with magic. Cheers to another season at the barn creating and sharing more magic.
