This past weekend my boy and I managed to not only pass but win first place at our French Ring club trial for his Ring 2.

French Ring is a 3-level dog sport where at the highest level the dog must display its athleticism, power, and control without any training tools. No leash, e-collar, treats, etc. Your dog must go through a series of jumps, obedience, and protection exercises.

I spent the last 10 to 12 months teaching my dog the proper technique to jump.

I probably have over 100,000 steps teaching him how to search and find the decoy in the blind.

Traveling and attending several workshops, all with the goal in mind of taking home 1st place.

Sunday morning after Sunday morning I would wake up and go and train with my club.

This is just a reminder that you can do whatever you put your mind to. 2 years ago I had no idea how to build up a dog of this nature.

I started to learn about French Ring at the end of 2023 and within 2 years this is a major accomplishment.

The reason I decided to compete in the French Ring sport is because I believe if you’re going to take people’s hard-earned money for dog training, you better be good at it.

I don’t know why but I tend to not really make a big deal out of my accomplishments maybe because I’m an overachiever—but for now we will enjoy the win and we will prepare for our next competition.

This would not have been possible without the help of these folks:

Jasper Yasenchack
Ross Hanson
Ben Gregory
and all the folks in our Perimeter Working Dog Club.

How I'm transforming the way we train our dogs 👇

Growing up, I wasn't allowed to have dogs.

At 20, I rescued a terrier named Chance, hid him in the garage, and my grandma made me give him up.

Three years later, I rescued a Blue Heeler named Static.

When I traveled, he trashed my family's house.

I had a choice: rehome him or train him.

I chose training. It worked for a bit until it didn’t.

So I apprenticed with two training companies, moved to Atlanta, and spent years learning what actually works.
I saw the gaps in the industry.

That's when I started Kaizen Canine.

Since 2020, I've helped dog owners build trust with their dogs through effective communication.

My work is just not about training dogs, it’s about making pet-owners' lives easier.

Follow me to see how I turn reactive, out-of-control dogs into pets you can trust
