I got very excited about costumes for the Behave pups, Sienna, Silas, and Hiko. The costumes are puns/name related. I will reveal the answers on Halloween and provide more hints as the week goes on!

This is Skipper and she’s here to tell you about cat training - specifically cat integration. It’s not always as easy as letting two cats eat on either side of a gate to get to know one another. There’s lots of nuance and that strategy has its pitfalls! So while Skipper does get frequent exposure sessions with her roommate with a gate, we also do a lot of training one on one with each cat. Skipper is very excited to hang out with her roommate who is … less excited. So skippers training involves getting her to listen to commands, lots of play and enrichment to give her other things to do, and harness training to help with intros later, and potential get her going on adventures! Her people are working very hard and it’s paying off!

Also you may have noticed Skipper has 3 legs. She was hit by a car and her previous family left her at the vet. One of the techs took her in and brought her to her new family where she is THRIVING. So everyone be proud of Skipper. And her people. And the vet tech. ❤️❤️❤️

This tale is as old as time. Puppies at 2, 3, even 4 months jump on a person and squeals of delight abound. And then short weeks later, some folks may have the opposite reaction - icks and ughs when your big, lanky pr***en dog jumps on them.

We may inadvertently give a dog a “puppy pass” for certain behaviors when they’re young (like nipping and jumping) but that pass expires when they grow up and those behaviors start to be painful and destructive.

Silas is reaching the age (and size) where his exuberant vertical greetings are not as well received. Check out Amy’s new puppy post (link below in comments) about why jumping is a tricky behavior to curb, and how to make it happen!

The kitten distribution system smiled upon us today and sent this determined little silver nugget. He is currently staying with his rescuers (who footed the vet bill and have offered to continue). He can’t stay there because they have a house full of animals, so if you have space for a little kitten who needs some TLC to trust human hands, please let us know!

Help Rufus find his forever home!

Rufus is a sweet pitty-mix who’s been with his foster mom for 10 months. Look at his sweet face! His foster mom hired Behave Atlanta to meet him and learn what he needs to prepare him for whatever comes next! Amy walked in the door to find a wiggly, affectionate, well-balanced dog. True to his breed, he was eager to please and quick to learn.

As the newest members of “team Rufus” we are here to help with his adoption. We are happy to facilitate a meet-and-greet to help him find the best match. Please reach out if you or someone you know has a Rufus-shaped hole in their life.
