Buttercup is also moving to a small Minnesota farm next Monday, as the owners' second ES to help out with farm chores and to tag along as a family companion. She will help out with varmint management and may learn some herding as well as she grows into it. I believe Buttercup’s well balanced personality will fit in very well!

I have no doubt that Rowan is going to give his first-time ES owners a good impression of the breed! He is so easygoing and cuddly, yet has enough drive and energy that I expect he will help out where needed on his family’s farm in Minnesota, tagging along for farm chores, varmint management, camping, horse shows, and as a trail companion. Rowan is the first pup to take off, leaving early this afternoon.

Leaving Saturday, Marigold is going to be the sweetest companion to her family on their South Dakota ranch. Her people are experienced ES owners and Marigold will be doing her absolute best to fill the void that the previous ones left! She has an irresistible people-oriented personality that wiggles her way into hearts. As a note of interest, she will also get to occasionally meet and play with her half brother Jack, who lives with the son of Marigold’s new owners.

Tansy is joining an energetic farming family in Minnesota this evening, and will learn to herd, hunt, and help out with varmint control in addition to being a great family companion. Jonquil takes the prize for relocating the farthest of all her littermates! She flies to California with her new owners on Friday, where she will meet her new big ES brother and settle into a stimulating life of sports, beach time, cycling, physical therapy, nosework, walking, and other activities. Lotus, the firstborn, happy-go-lucky girl will be joining her excited family in Minnesota on Saturday, and become the second English Shepherd they owned. I expect that her calm, contented, people-loving personality will fit in well with an urban lifestyle of just hanging out with her family, taking daily walks or jogs, doing obedience training, and learning to play ball and frisbee.

Week 8 Update! This is such a bittersweet time, as the start that I’ve given to the puppies is drawing to a close, and they are ready to fly the coop to all the new adventures awaiting them. The last week was full of meeting new people (including a couple of the new owners), one-on-one on-leash socialization sessions, multiple walks every day, and learning so many new things. It was one of the busiest weeks for me as we worked hard to match puppies to the 8 families who put down deposits, but eventually things fell into place like a puzzle. It’s hard to see the puppies leave, but also so rewarding to know that I gave them the best start I could, and that there are wonderful families waiting for each one of them.
