🐾🎉 25 CATS. ONE MONTH. COUNTLESS FUTURE LITTERS PREVENTED! 🎉🐾
It has been a BUSY few days here at the Alley as we prepare 10 more community cats for their spay and neuter surgeries tomorrow! And that’s after completing 15 surgeries in the previous weeks!
That means tomorrow we will officially be FINISHING OCTOBER STRONG WITH 25 COMMUNITY CATS SPAYED OR NEUTERED! 🐈💪
But the numbers aren’t even the BEST part of this update! We’ve got some BIG victories to celebrate!
🐾 VICTORY #1: AN ENTIRE COLONY COMPLETED!
That’s right! We have officially closed out an ENTIRE colony!
This colony included 2 mama cats who have been caught in the endless cycle of reproducing, their 3 female daughters, and one handsome hunk of a boy affectionately known as KEN! 💙
Those two mamas will NEVER have to raise another litter. Their three daughters will NEVER have to experience that cycle in the first place. And Ken? Well, Ken can officially retire from contributing to the neighborhood population! 😂
But wait… there’s MORE to this story!
One of those mamas also had SIX beautiful kittens — 3 girls and 3 boys! 🐱❤️
And we are happy to share that all SIX have been taken into our care!
These babies will receive their necessary veterinary care, vaccinations, and routine treatments, and every single one will be spayed or neutered before finding their forever homes!
That means we’re not just stopping the reproductive cycle for the adult cats in this colony. We’re making sure the NEXT generation never has to contribute to it either!
SIX ADULT CATS. SIX KITTENS. ONE COLONY. AN ENTIRE CYCLE BROKEN! 🙌
This is what TNVR and rescue working together can accomplish! It’s not just about helping the cats in front of us today. It’s about preventing generations of kittens from being born into an already overwhelming community cat population.
🐾 VICTORY #2: THE MAMA WHO KEPT OUTSMARTING US!
OH, THIS ONE DESERVES A CELEBRATION! 🎉
For MONTHS, we have been trying to trap one particular mama at a public location.
And let us tell you… SHE WAS GOOD. 😅
Every time we thought we were getting close, she would disappear. And just when we thought we might have another opportunity, she’d show back up with another litter of kittens.
Over. And over. And over.
We successfully secured FOUR of her kittens from this location (and just WAIT until you meet these babies because you are going to LOVE them!).
But mama? Mama had other plans.
For THREE DAYS, we worked on getting her comfortable with the trap, leaving food inside and hoping she’d finally decide it wasn’t so suspicious.
And you know what she did?
SHE WATCHED ME. 😂
Several times, I pulled up to swap out food, check the traps, and see whether we’d finally caught her.
And there she would be. Watching. Observing. Probably wondering why this crazy cat lady kept coming back to bother her! 🤣
She knew exactly what was going on, and she was NOT about to make this easy.
But then came the moment I don’t think I’ll forget anytime soon.
I pulled up to check on things and fill the last trapping spot we needed for surgery.
And there she was.
Sitting so beautifully in the alley. Calm. Completely unbothered.
Almost as if she had been waiting for me all along.
I swear, if she could have spoken, I think she would have looked right at me and said:
“Oh, there you are. I’ve been waiting on you.” 🥹❤️
After months of trying, countless trips, three days of patiently baiting the trap, and watching this clever girl outsmart us time and time again…
WE FINALLY CAUGHT MAMA!!!! 🙌🎉
And just like that, another cycle of endless litters is coming to an end.
No more disappearing only to return with another litter. No more pregnancies. No more trying to keep babies safe in a public location.
Just one very clever mama who finally gets to retire from motherhood!
And THAT, friends, is a victory worth celebrating. ❤️
🐾 WHAT’S NEXT FOR TNVR?
As we’ve previously shared, we currently have no additional trapping appointments confirmed for the remainder of 2026.
Between clinic schedules, the holidays, and limited availability, November opportunities are extremely limited. We are working to see whether we can secure a few appointments in December, but nothing has been confirmed.
While we would LOVE to keep this momentum going, responsible rescue also means recognizing our limitations and ensuring we can follow through on the commitments we’ve already made.
And with everything happening at the Alley right now, those commitments are keeping us plenty busy!
❤️ 25 community cat surgeries in October. An entire colony completed. Six kittens given the opportunity for loving forever homes. One elusive mama FINALLY caught, along with four more kittens. And countless future litters prevented!
These are the victories that remind us WHY we do what we do.
To every trapper, transporter, veterinary partner, volunteer, donor, and community member who has helped make this possible: THANK YOU!
We aren’t just changing individual lives.
We’re changing the future of community cats, one colony at a time. 🐾❤️
