Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Brother Wolf works to better the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. Est 2007 We know that together we can create a kinder world.

Founded in 2007, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue enhances the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. We work across county lines with the goal of saving the greatest number of lives possible through strategic, creative, and impactful programming. Through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, extensive v

olunteer and foster networks, and a trap-neuter-return program for community cats, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in the Western North Carolina region. We operate an adoption center in the heart of Asheville where you can meet your next best friend. On our campus you’ll also find our thrift store and retail store whose proceeds help fund our lifesaving programs. We are a community-based organization and rely on the generosity of our donors to continue our impactful work for animals as we receive no government funding.

IT IS HAPPENING!! 🎉🎉🎉

Brother Wolf has purchased the future home for our rebuilt Adoption Center! This building will be transformed into a vibrant, lifesaving space for animals and the people who love them*.

We have been waiting a long time to share the news, and honestly, it feels amazing!! 😭

After losing our shelter to floodwaters, Brother Wolf never stopped saving lives. We became even more foster-based, showing up for dogs, cats, and tiny critters who needed help, all while dreaming and planning about what would come next.

This Adoption Center will help us increase adoptions, better support overcrowded shelter partners, and move more animals from uncertainty into loving homes. More lifesaving. More connection. More impact.

We’ll be sharing more in the months ahead as plans come together, but today we are celebrating this amazing milestone with YOU, our people, who love animals as much as we do.

Thank you for believing in Brother Wolf. Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for helping make this possible. We’re rebuilding. We’re dreaming big. And we’re just getting started!

Together we save lives. ❤️

BIG NEWS!!!! $500,000 for Animals!!

Animals shape human lives in such beautiful ways. They steady us. They give rhythm to our days. They provide a deep and safe connection.

They bring us joy.

They ask for very little and return something that is difficult to name, yet easy to recognize the moment it’s gone.

To care about animals is, in a very real way, to care about one another.

What we continue to see are animals caught in the middle of circumstances they did not create, alongside good people doing their best in situations that have outpaced them.

Because when people suffer, animals suffer.

As we work toward rebuilding (sharing more very soon!), we have also asked ourselves a question: what does it look like to respond to this crisis, not later, not when we walk into our rebuilt shelter, but now? How can we strengthen the foundation before the foundation is even poured?

This is where we have arrived.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is committing $500,000 over the next two years to support under-resourced shelter partners and to keep animals out of the shelter system in the first place.

The intention is straightforward. When our shelter partners have additional foundational support, space opens, pressure eases, and more lives move forward. When families have the support they need to care for the animals they love, fewer impossible decisions have to be made.

You, our community, showed up for Brother Wolf in ways that were immediate, generous, and deeply human. You reminded us that even in moments that feel fractured, people still reach for one another.

That instinct - to help, to steady, to stand alongside - is what made this amazing $500,000 commitment possible.

Being able to extend that same care outward now, feels like a gift, one that we carry with humility and gratitude.

Because what has been given to us does not end with us. It moves outward into our community.

This initiative is not separate from rebuilding Brother Wolf. It is part of it. So that when we do walk into our rebuilt shelter, things will already be in a better place for the animals who need us for generations to come.

We are still here because of you.

And because of that, we can be there for others.

Together, we save lives.

UPDATE!! 🎉 ‘Grandma Lottie’ has been adopted!!!! Her life is completely changed for the better because of this beautiful community.

It has been a long road, and worth every step to finally give Lottie “her time,” her time to have a family, her time to sleep safely inside a warm house, her time to enjoy being a senior dog.

Together we save lives ❤️

UPDATE: Three tiny fighters… have turned into three very big puppies!

If you’ve been following Grandma Lottie’s story, you’ll remember how small and fragile her surviving babies were in those early days.

Thanks to a lot of bottle feeding, late nights, and a whole lot of love, they didn’t just make it - they thrived.

Now they’re huge. Truly. They’ve gone from tiny squeaks to wiggly, growing puppies with big appetites and even bigger personalities (definitely taking after their sweet mom).

Watching them grow has been one of the bright spots of our year so far, and we’re so grateful to everyone who held Lottie and her babies in their hearts along the way.

Three reasons to smile today! Lottie’s surviving puppies are thriving!

After weeks of around-the-clock bottle feeding, warm snuggles, and alarms going off at all hours - these little ones have really turned a corner. A huge thank you to their amazing foster family for sacrificing rest to save them.

Grandma Lottie is doing great, and her babies are doing exactly what we hoped they would do: eat, sleep, play, snuggle, squeak, repeat.

We’re tired. We’re relieved. We’re really, really grateful!

2025 was incredibly hard. After living through a disaster that took away our shelter, we entered the year facing layers of logistical, emotional, and operational challenges that tested us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. There were no easy answers — only constant adaptation and a shared commitment to keep showing up for animals and the people who love them.

With a staff of fewer than 20 people, our team pivoted again and again (and again!) to ensure Brother Wolf’s mission stayed alive. At the start of 2025, we set a grounded, hopeful goal: if we could help even 300 animals, we would be proud.

So I truly can’t put into words my excitement, deep pride, and gratitude for what we’re sharing with you in this impact report: 900+ animals adopted, 2,000+ foster home placements, and assistance provided to 500+ animals to keep them out of the shelter system and with the families they love. Dang y’all! Look what we did together under incredibly challenging circumstances - high fives and hugs all around!

This lifesaving happened because this work has never belonged to us alone. We couldn’t have done it without you. We have a scrappy, determined team who makes things happen for animals…and you give us the fuel to do just that. Your critical support kept our collective work going, your homes gave our foster animals a safe place to land, your hands volunteered your time, your donations fueled lifesaving programs, and your supportive outreach lifted us up with love and encouragement.

Thank you for being part of Brother Wolf. Because of you, animals are living surrounded by care, warmth, and love. And because of you, we’re building an incredible future ahead to impact animals for generations to come. Thank you for being on this journey with us. Together we save lives.

Single-digit temperatures are on the way, and heartbreakingly, not everyone has warmth.

Let’s look out for one another - bring animals indoors, check on folks around you, and offer kindness if you’re able.

We’re stronger when we take care of each other.

If you see an animal left outside or in need of help, contact your local animal control agency right away.

If the animal does not have access to food, shelter, or water, it’s important to relay those details. You can always call them back to follow up on what action was taken.

Stay safe and warm out there, and cuddle your animals a little extra for us.
