Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Brother Wolf works to better the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. Est 2007 We know that together we can create a kinder world.

Founded in 2007, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue enhances the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. We work across county lines with the goal of saving the greatest number of lives possible through strategic, creative, and impactful programming. Through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, extensive volunteer and foster networks, and a trap-neuter-return program for community cats, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in the Western North Carolina region. We operate an adoption center in the heart of Asheville where you can meet your next best friend. On our campus you’ll also find our thrift store and retail store whose proceeds help fund our lifesaving programs. We are a community-based organization and rely on the generosity of our donors to continue our impactful work for animals as we receive no government funding.

Over the last 48 hours, we've received multiple desperate calls for help. Behind every call are animals who need a safe place to go…

💔 18 shepherd puppies found living outside after being born under a house.

💔 Two nursing mamas and their puppies living at an overcrowded shelter with their time running out.

💔 Another mama and her 5-week-old Aussiedoodle puppies are facing an especially heartbreaking situation that we need to get them out of right now.

We want to say YES to every single one of them…. But we need foster homes right now to save these lives!

🏡 Could you open your home to a pair of puppies or a momma dog for just TWO WEEKS?

Two weeks of puppy snuggles, tiny paws, and a safe place to rest and grow. A short commitment from you would mean everything to them.

“Borrowing cats” is what Andi calls fostering with Brother Wolf. She lovingly helped nurse Ziggy’s broken jaw back to health and gave his brother, Kevin, all the cuddles he required, carrying him around with her and helping out with mealtimes. “When I feel sad, they make me feel better.”

Our team is looking for foster homes in the Asheville area to help Brother Wolf save lives. Commitments can be as short as two weeks and we take care of all of the costs.

Pebbles, Thumper, and Boo were at Brother Wolf on September 25, 2024.

Early the next morning, they were among 100 animals evacuated into the loving arms of emergency foster homes. The devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene hit hours later, engulfing our campus. But thanks to this community, our animals were safe.

Two years later, it’s still difficult to put into words what that day changed for Brother Wolf. When we look back, one feeling rises above everything else: gratitude.

Our community showed up when we needed you most. Foster homes opened their doors. Volunteers and supporters stepped forward. Friends near and far helped us protect every animal in our care and aid those in our community who had been impacted by the storm.

Pebbles, Thumper, and Boo are now living beautiful lives with their adoptive families. Their stories a reminder of what was made possible in those urgent hours and in all the days that followed.

As we mark two years since Hurricane Helene, we are remembering all WNC lost, holding close everything that was saved, and feeling deeply grateful for every person who has helped carry Brother Wolf through.

Because of you, they were safe. And because of you, we were able to keep going. ❤️

This summer, the Brother Wolf team has been working alongside under-resourced shelter partners in Western NC to grow programs, strengthen systems, support staff, and help more animals.

And the impact is already showing: one shelter partner has seen adoptions increase by 56% and foster participation grow by 76!

Remember small Sugarplum and giant ‘grandma’ Lottie? As fate would have it, they became best friends…🥹🥰

From heartbreaking situations to loving adoptive homes, these two Brother Wolf pups fatefully ended up living near each other.

It started with a curious sniff and a shared walk at a neighborhood park. Despite their dramatic size difference, they became inseparable.

Two rescued dogs. Two second chances. Two lives forever changed.

Because of this community, Sugarplum (now Tini) found her family, and Lottie spent her final months safe, cherished, and loved.

Thank you for making friendships like theirs possible. Thank you for giving animals not only a second chance—but the opportunity to live lives so full of love that their stories continue long after adoption.

Some stories begin at Brother Wolf. The very best ones keep unfolding for years to come. ❤️
