AHS coming in clutch once again with another amazing good boy!! 👍

Meet Clutch, a 5-year-old dog looking for his next home. This guy came to us very shy and afraid of everything, but has been putting in a lot of hard work with our trainers to be brave. Now, he gets comfortable with new people more quickly and loves to go for hiking adventures!

He’s still a little scared of other dogs, so he would prefer to be the only dog in the home, at least right now.

Even with all the progress he’s made, Clutch has been waiting for over 12 weeks for his adopter to find him. If you are interested, visit him at 14 Forever Friend Lane today!

Rambo believes that a hike a day keeps the scaries away. He needed an adopter who shares this high-energy core belief!

To make sure they were a match, his adopter took him for a Test Drive: a 7-day trial period sponsored by Fred Anderson Subaru. If, like Rambo, it is a success, we happily finalize the adoption! If not, we learn more about what kind of home the dog would like best.

Now Rambo is cuddling, playing and, of course, walking every day with his new active family and we couldn’t be happier 😊🌄

An adopter finds a friend and familiar in a shy black cat. One dog becomes the latest member of an expanding family of kids and pets. A foster discovers that a little kitten can make you feel big feelings. One of our medically unique and staff favorite cats says goodbye to us and hello to a home that will help him stay as healthy as possible. A once-spicy kitten finds a loving home that changes her outlook on life.

This Queso’s got a little bit of spice 🌶️

❤️‍🔥A beautiful flame point Siamese, Queso is about 6.5 years old and could easily spend the whole day being eye candy in a sunny window.

She likes to be brushed and pet but can become overstimulated easily so her adopter should be cat-savvy enough to read her body language.

Her independent spirit means she would prefer to be the only pet in the household – her ideal day involves solo relaxation interspersed with cuddling on her terms.

Eve is a go-getter, a walk-taker, AND a cuddle bug. Talk about a total package! She loves to get zoomies, hike and play with canine friends.

At just 1.5 years old, she’s still getting used to the world and could use an adopter with some patience to guide her through new experiences and train. She wouldn’t do well in a household with cats, but could do well in an active family with other dogs.

✨Eve is being spotlighted in memory of a very special dog, K-9 Norris. Norris was a nine-year-old German Shepherd assigned to the IGRANT unit of Buncombe County Sheriff's Office trained in narcotics detection, handler protection and tracking. Earlier this year he was sadly diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma and passed away. In his honor, every month a shelter dog will be featured in the K-9 Norris Second Chance Spotlight. 🩵

Good credit? No credit? No problem! Everyone deserves the loving bond of a pet; Champion Credit Union and Asheville Humane Society are partnering to help make that happen.

From October 5-11 all of our animals six months and older will have their fees waived. Thank you to Champion Credit Union for helping make adoption possible for more people and animals!

🎵All the single doggies! All the single doggies! Put your paws up!🎵

We have some dogs who are independent spirits. We call them single dogs, meaning they don’t enjoy the company of their canine compatriots and prefer to be the single dog in a household.

As animal people, we know that only having one dog can be a tall order, so we waive adoption fees for our single dogs to make it easier for them to find a home. You can get a one-and-only companion, completely for free!

If you don’t already have a dog in the home, but aren’t quite ready to adopt yet – try fostering! It is also completely free and our single dogs would be so grateful for a staycation with you away from our dog-crowded kennels.

All the dogs in this post are available single dogs! Meet Pinely, Brock, Mama, Blue, Clutch, Risha, Genie, Memphis, Surfer, Iggy and Goober.
