We survived the storms, and there was no damage- but our youngest Turkey- Roux had a rough go.

She’s inside recovering with Momma, warming up and drying off- before we finish drying her and get her some recovery juice and some mash 🫶🏻

⚠️ BLINDLY ACCEPTING INFORMATION IS DANGEROUS — NO MATTER WHO IT COMES FROM.

There has been a lot of discussion about using Bravecto (fluralaner) off-label in chickens for mites and lice. Somewhere along the way, information about ORAL fluralaner started being applied to TOPICAL Bravecto.

They are not interchangeable.

🔬 ORAL Fluralaner:
Studies in laying hens using 0.5 mg/kg orally found egg residues remained below the established maximum residue limit, supporting a 0-day egg discard period under those specific study conditions.

Studies have also shown that using the oral
Suspension of Bravecto- results in the same residue concentration. So that seems safe!!

However..

🔬 TOPICAL BRAVECTO:
Bravecto topical is a ☀️highly concentrated☀️ 280 mg/mL formulation. In a 2024 laying-hen study, transdermal fluralaner persisted much longer, preferentially accumulated in egg yolks, and researchers calculated an approximately 81-day egg withdrawal interval based on the established residue limit.

BUT — and this is important — the topical study used an average dose of 58.7 mg/kg, roughly 117× the 0.5 mg/kg oral dose.

Different route. Different concentration. Different dose. Different pharmacokinetics.

When someone tells you a medication is “safe” or has “no egg withdrawal,” don’t blindly repeat it.

Ask:

Which product? Which concentration? Which dose? Which route? And where is the research?

That applies to information from Facebook, breeders, and information from us.

Do your research. Ask. 🖤💛

Here’s the catch: THH is still keeping its Bantam roots! Every vendor must have Bantams available, BUT if you’re one of our Bantam breeders who also raises Large Fowl, you’re welcome to bring those birds along too! 🐓🐥

We’ve spent this season celebrating the little birds we love so much, and for our finale, we’re letting their bigger flockmates come along for one BIG BAWK BASH!
