🏆🐾 Congratulations to SLMPD K-9 Finn and PO Brian Eisele! 🐾🏆

The St. Louis Police Officers Association is proud to congratulate SLMPD K-9 Finn and his handler, Police Officer Brian Eisele, on winning the Overall Championship (Top Dog) at the American Mantrailing, Police & Work Dog Association (AMPWDA) K-9 Police Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia.

The "Top Dog" title is awarded to the team that excels across every phase of competition, including obedience, tracking, article searches, and bite work. Competing against elite police K-9 teams from across the country, Finn and Brian rose to the top and brought the championship home to St. Louis.

Finn's story is as unique as his accomplishment. Bred in Denmark, he traveled internationally before joining the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and even required a passport to enter the United States. Like many European working dogs, Finn responds to commands given in Dutch.

And speaking of passports, the full name on his passport is Huckleberry Finn.

Which means the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department employed both Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. 😳😂

One is a retired police officer and co-host of our partners at The Brighter Side of Blue Podcast.

The other just won a national K-9 championship.

Mark Twain would probably get a kick out of that.

In all seriousness, this achievement represents countless hours of training, discipline, teamwork, and trust between handler and K-9. Brian and Finn have made the entire department and community proud.

We had such a fun time at our last community class that we’re doing another one! 🎉

If you have a puppy or young dog who could use help with socializing, learning better manners, and practicing around distractions, this is a great opportunity to get out and work with them in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Whether your dog gets overly excited around other dogs, struggles to focus outside the house, or just needs more exposure to the world around them — this class is for you!

Toby & Abby are making awesome progress on their loose leash walking! 🐾 They’re not 100% perfect yet, but that’s okay, training takes time and consistency. When their parents first came to me, pulling on walks was a big struggle. Now they’re walking with barely any tension on the leash and doing so much better. So proud of how far these two have come! 👏🐶

Each dog and training plan is unique, and I dedicate time and preparation to understanding both your dog and your goals to provide the best training experience possible. Respecting scheduled appointments allows me to give every client and dog the time and attention they deserve.

To best accommodate scheduling, I kindly ask for more than 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling whenever possible. Providing only two days’ notice often does not allow enough time to offer that appointment to another client. Of course, I understand that illnesses and family emergencies can happen, and exceptions will be considered. Thank you for respecting my time and helping me continue to serve all clients fairly.

Even though our class was small, we were still able to give plenty of one-on-one attention to the young dogs 🐾

Because of that, we’ve decided to start offering Puppy/Young Dog Classes at the end of the month! Stay tuned for details! We’re excited to help more pups build confidence, manners, and a great foundation.
