What my Aussie's... Love About Momma 🐾
• Learning to be... Super Wonderful Aussies

Just ask me...
I've got some information in this mind of mine... that I'll SHARE, how too have Super Wonderful Canines!
Diet and Exercise not just physical Diet & Exercise what types? I can help with training, behavior, health, and nutrition. It's a whole combination to keep an Aussie cool and calm inside and out especially in a tuff environment like us in Texas! Our environment alone could spark a whole tail spin. That sometimes seems like it happened overnight. Your dogs frustration with inflammation when they get it, shows up in behavior first. The symptoms that are physical follow quickly. If you don't know what to look for you could miss these early signs. They make treating symptoms with holistic protocols, like treat the cause of the symptom, cause no harm, and in return eliminate the symptom. When you miss it all together you end up at the vet spending a small fortune treating the symptom not the cause and sometimes with no relief. Your dog communicates to you, if you understand them. It's like diet... I love to study evaluation of a wild dogs diet. This teaches also behavior towards foods, tolerance to toxins, the scavenger and the carnivore behaviors are different the choices they make and why, plus the omnivore choices, why, how much of each. When I studied this, I understood how much from each food group and the reasoning. Like eating stomach contents after a kill for the fermented probiotic plant material in the omnivore. Our wild dogs, if they didn't fight the dangers caused by living in the wild, with no medical available, they would outlive all our domesticated dogs. Example: Dr Katie Woodley researched the introduction of the wolf back into Yellowstone to return the ecological balance to the environment. It's been a big success. She is a vetinarian specializing in Microbiology & Nutrition up in Colorado! If we watch our dogs and what they eat on their own accord, it's sometimes gross to us. Let's say feces/poop; we may not want our dog to eat that, but the dog senses something lacking in his Microbiome that it has in it! The dog in the wild is also his own physician, so today we study this, we watch, listen, and research. The research is available and is becoming amazing. Just ask you're AI, learn how to ask the question right to get the right answers. Today I just purchase FTM F***l Transplant Material from AnimalBiome you also test your dogs Microbiome at this website first. You get multiple recommendations on diet and real answers to your dogs problems with the results. You are adding all the good bacteria FTM capsules to your dog's diet, providing better digestion and all of them Together are the dogs clean up crew that happens after the stomach empties! This happens last couple hours before their 24 hour fast is over. Imagine a broom cleaning out the true waste, keeping your dog free of carcinogens and pathogens. A healthy gut does just that! A healthy dogs coat and eyes shine, the teeth are bright white, gums are pink, weight looks like an hour glass, not obese.
You can do this for your dog and give them a longer healthier life!

The Fire-Inspired Paw-Print to Canine Wellness: Why Gut Health Is Everything

By Hope Goerner, CPCN & Author of the upcoming book The Fire-Inspired Paw-Print to Australian Shepherd Nutritional Health

When we look at our dogs—whether they are bounding through an agility course, working livestock, or resting peacefully by our side—we see a picture of vitality. But true health doesn't start on the surface or even in the muscles and bones; it begins deep within the microscopic ecosystem of the digestive tract.

Recently, during a deep-dive consultation with Mindy Wrightson from AnimalBiome —a distinguished 30-year specialty veterinarian and microbiologist—we explored how foundational gut health dictates everything from parasite resilience to emotional stability. Here is the Paw-Print for mastering canine wellness from the inside out, protecting our dog’s lifespan and their offspring for us, leading to a natural understanding why true health always starts at the core.

1. The Parasite Puzzle: Safe-Guard vs. The Sledgehammer Approach
When a routine check reveals an internal parasite load, the panic button is often pushed. But choosing the right tool makes all the difference.

Mindy confirmed a critical clinical truth: Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) does not disrupt the beneficial canine microbiome. Because fenbendazole selectively targets the unique cellular structures of multicellular parasites and protozoa like Giardia without acting as a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic, it leaves native gut flora largely undisturbed.

In contrast, harsh chemical treatments or heavy-handed antibiotics (like metronidazole, often prescribed for stubborn Giardia) act like a nuclear bomb on the gut, wiping out vital foundational bacteria and plunging the dog into deep, long-term dysbiosis which is chronic imbalance. Don't fret, the good news is the balance can be fixed.

2. The Clean-Out Protocol: Fasting, Rice, and Biological Reset
When clearing out parasites, the goal is not just killing the invader, but cleanly escorting the residual debris out of the system without secondary inflammation. A structured clean-out phase looks like this:

The Japanese Sticky Rice Phase (1/2 Cup 50 LB Dog) 3 Days Prior Treatment: Temporarily introducing a small amount of short-grain or glutinous white rice creates a soft, gelatinous matrix. As it passes through, it acts as a gentle physiological sponge, trapping dead parasite fragments, cellular mucus, and die-off waste to clear them smoothly.
Gentle Fasting (24 Hours): Following the soft-meal phase with a short, controlled fast allows the gastrointestinal tract complete rest. The last 4 hours is what triggers autophagy (cellular self-cleaning broom and repair) and redirects the body’s energy toward healing the mucosal lining.
The Return to BARF: Seamlessly shifting back to a species-appropriate raw Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet ensures optimal nutrient density without inflammatory fillers and grains.

3. From Mouth to Gut: Raw Bones, Plaque Control, and the Oral Microbiome
The gateway to the entire gastrointestinal tract begins right in the mouth. A thriving oral microbiome acts as the first line of defense, keeping harmful periodontal pathogens from multiplying and translocating into the bloodstream and lower gut. This is where appropriate raw meaty bones play an irreplaceable role. The mechanical action of gnawing and chewing acts as a natural toothbrush, effectively scraping away plaque and tartar while stimulating enzyme-rich saliva production. Beyond dental hygiene, the ingestion of raw bone matrix, cartilage, and natural connective tissue provides vital minerals and biochemical substrates that nourish the entire digestive continuum.

4. The Modern Crisis: How Kibble and Antibiotics Sabotage Microbiome Health
Today, the modern canine microbiome faces an unprecedented dual threat: ultra-processed diets and routine pharmaceutical overreach. Highly processed commercial kibble—cooked at extreme temperatures and laden with synthetic additives, starches, and empty carbohydrates—starves beneficial anaerobic bacteria and feeds inflammatory, sugar-loving microbes. When paired with the indiscriminate "sledgehammer" effect of modern broad-spectrum antibiotics, this creates a state of chronic, low-grade systemic dysbiosis which is severe imbalance. Breaking the cycle requires moving away from antibiotics, processed fillers, returning to living, species-appropriate nutrition and f***l transplant supplements to reguvinate the gut health and correct the balance.

Dont be scared... Just throw the entire bag in the trash!

5. Inside Zuca’s Gut: Decoding the Microbiome Profile
When evaluating microbiome data (such as Zuca’s recent AnimalBiome mapping), a raw-fed dog’s profile tells a very specific story:

The Protein Adaptation: High-protein, raw-fed dogs naturally show elevated levels of protein-fermenting anaerobes like Peptoclostridium, which is a normal metabolic adaptation to a meat-based diet.
The Missing Genera & The FMT Solution: Zuca's profile flagged several missing carbohydrate- and fiber-fermenting bacteria (such as Prevotella 9, Allobaculum, and Turicibacter). While her diet suits her wonderfully, supplementing with targeted F***l Microbiota Transplant (FMT) capsules bridges the gap. FMT safely seeds the gut with foundational, deep-colonizing anaerobic species that raw diets alone don't always cultivate, outcompeting opportunistic pathogens.

6. From Conception Onward: The Lifespan and Immune Axis
A dog's long-term healthspan is programmed long before adulthood.

In-Utero and Neonatal Seeding: The journey begins at conception through maternal metabolic signaling and continues at birth via natural microbial transfer and colostrum. This early window educates the Gut-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT)—housing roughly 70% to 80% of the immune system.
Lifespan Resilience: Dogs raised with gut-sparing protocols, minimal pharmaceutical trauma, and species-appropriate nutrition experience delayed immunosenescence. They maintain cellular integrity, lower systemic inflammation ("inflammaging"), and enjoy a compressed window of decline in their senior years.

7. Fight-or-Flight Behavior: Symptoms, Not Bad Behavior
One of the most profound breakthroughs in modern veterinary science is the gut-brain axis—the bidirectional communication network linking the GI tract to the central nervous system via the vagus nerve, immune signaling, and microbial metabolites.

The Balanced Microbiome: A thriving gut packed with beneficial bacteria (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and short-chain fatty acid producers like Faecalibacterium) helps regulate neurotransmitters. In fact, the vast majority of the body’s serotonin and key calming neurotransmitters like GABA are produced or influenced right in the gut. A dog with a balanced microbiome exhibits emotional resilience, stable stress recovery, and appropriate environmental responses.
The Unbalanced Gut (Dysbiosis) & Fight-or-Flight: When the microbiome is disrupted by poor diet, chemical overload, or chronic inflammation, neurotransmitter production crashes. The dog's nervous system enters a state of constant, low-grade hypersensitivity.
Behavior as a Physical Symptom: When a dog displays sudden reactivity, noise phobias, separation anxiety, or an exaggerated "fight or flight" response, it is frequently not just "bad behavior" or a training failure—it is a physical symptom of internal gut distress, visceral discomfort, and neurological starvation. Treating the behavior with obedience alone misses the root cause. Healing the gut restores chemical balance, calms the nervous system, and returns the dog to emotional equilibrium.

Conclusion: Prevention is the Key to a Wonderful Life
When we weigh the cost of reactive veterinary medicine—expensive diagnostics, long-term medications for chronic yeast and allergies, and the emotional toll of a suffering pet—against the elegance of proactive care, the path forward is clear.

By prioritizing strategic parasite testing, using gut-sparing treatments like Safe-Guard, supporting microbial diversity with targeted FMT supplementation, and feeding a species-appropriate raw diet with raw bones for oral and gut integrity, we protect our dogs at the deepest biological level.

Prevention is the ultimate key to unlocking a long, vibrant, and joyful life with your dog—ensuring every paw-print they leave behind is healthy, strong, and full of fire.

Furthermore, we are taking transparency to the next level: we are actively live-testing all of our dogs. This means prospective puppy buyers will have complete insight into whether the mother and father of their future puppy possesses a strong and balanced microbiome system, a pristine genetic profile, verified DNA, solid lineage, stellar behavioral traits, and an optimal COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding). This rigorous standard guarantees that your puppy arrives biologically balanced, emotionally stable, physically resilient, and equipped with the strongest possible foundation for a long, extraordinary life with your family.
