Meet Smudge!

Smudge is located in foster care in Schenectady, NY

Smudge is a sweet, gentle 5-month-old Turkish Angora with unbelievably soft fur and an even softer personality—it’s truly impossible not to fall in love with him. He’s a devoted cuddle bug who loves being close to his people, making biscuits, and purring contentedly whenever he’s getting attention.

Playful, curious, and incredibly gentle, Smudge warms up quickly to new people and doesn’t mind being picked up. He has been successfully introduced to other cats and does well with feline companions. While he is still a bit cautious around dogs, he thrives in calm, loving environments where he can feel safe and adored.

Smudge’s ideal home is with true cat people who are excited to give him the love and affection he deserves. In return, he’ll be a constant, affectionate presence—and the kind of cat you wonder how you ever lived without.

ADOPTED!

Meet Peanut! She's a small dog with a great big heart and a little bitty underbite.

Peanut is a two-year-old good girl weighing in at just 20 pounds. She was with her brother, Butter, running in and out of traffic on a busy road when they were spotted by a good Samaritan.

It took over an hour, and lots of dodging traffic to finally encourage these two into the safety of their vehicle. Butter has found his forever home and now it's Peanut's turn to find happiness.

She's more than a dog, she's a coworker, sous chef, personal assistant, hype man, superfan, fashion accessory and more. She does it all!

Peanut was born to be someone's best friend and a good friend to everyone else she meets. She has met dozens of new people in the short time she's been in New Jersey and has been wonderful with every one of them. She learns to trust quickly and will even let a new friend pick her up or take her outside to go potty. She's friendly with people of all ages, including even the loudest toddlers. She greets other animals with some apprehension and requires just a little bit of patience from her animal friends but quickly warms up to respectful dogs AND cats.

She'd do well in a home with other animals or without. She's a "people" dog more than anything.

Peanut is fully house broken and goes outside with no complaint, even in the frigid cold. She sleeps quietly overnight in a crate but prefers to sleep snuggled up with you in bed. She loves to follow her person (or spare person if she must) everywhere they go.

Keeping an eye on you is her full-time job and she's aiming for a bonus this year. She'll hang out in an office chair while you work or cozy up next to you on the couch for a movie night.

Peanut doesn't require much activity. She's laid back, quiet and low maintenance. She's happy to hop in the car with you for a scenic drive or a quick trip to the store. She enjoys wandering around exploring the yard and comes back to the door when called.

Peanut is no personal trainer and is not going to push you to meet those fitness goals, but she'll go for a casual stroll with you any day. She's made for lazy days, but she'll be motivated if it makes you happy. As a matter of fact, she'll do just about anything to make you happy!

She's eager to please and only asks for belly rubs and a little treat here or there. A singular piece of shredded cheddar cheese will make you a hero in Peanut's eyes.

We're not sure of Peanut's breed.

Possibilities may include:
Lhasa Apso, S**t tzu, Tibetan Terrier, Schnauzer, Poodle, Schnoodle, Mezzi Rigatoni Noodle, North American Cheddar Hound, Fainting goat, Ewok

Whatever the breed, if you're looking for the perfect companion, Peanut is more than qualified for the job. We can provide plenty of references to boost her already shining resume.

Love,
Her foster mom

📣📣 Adult cat Adoption Update 📣📣

Darla has waited patiently for her forever home, and she has found it in the New England area. The transport from Texas didnt phase her, and her mom sends us updates every day!

Very few rescues help with cats, and we are one of the few that help with adult cats!

Darla now has full run of her new moms house, and heart. It only take 2 days to come around and less than 2 weeks to sleep on everything she can.

She is doted on and Darla reciprocates the love by throwing a fit when her mom leaves her alone and knocking over all the items on her desk.

Love comes in many ways 🙈😂

Fiona and Flo were "supposedly" stolen in Charleston, TN from the Loves Truck Stop but we believe they could be around Danbury, CT.

We have been made aware of a situation involving the transport company we hired to get adopted puppies to their northern families. We will address what they did to all of the animals on board in another post tomorrow but for now, here are a few things:

We have never used this company but they had good reviews and claimed to be usda certified as does their page. It was arranged as a private transport, no other pets should have been on board. We were not aware of the over crowding since only ours were on board at pickup, we do not know who else they picked up or how they arranged them after they left.

They have now started claiming two of our dogs have been stolen, they are two chihuahuas who are chipped and with health certs. We have spoken to the rescue group who showed up at the loves (which is who these drivers claim stole our puppies), and we do not believe they had anything to do with the missing dogs.

We feel these women (the transport drivers) have either sold or currently have possession of our missing pups. These puppies are our primary concern at this time. We want to locate them unharmed and get them to their waiting families. We will be reporting these drivers to the usda, the police, and every transport group and page we can locate. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Fiona & Flo, please reach out to us.

"My foster dog stinks to high heaven. I don’t know for sure what breed he is. His eyes are blank and hard. He won’t let me pet him and growls when I reach for him. He has ragged scars and crusty sores on his skin. His nails are long and his teeth which he showed me are stained.

I sigh.

I drove two hours for this. I carefully maneuver him so that I can stuff him in the crate. Then I heft the crate and put it in the car. I am going home with my new foster dog.

At home I leave him in the crate till all the other dogs are in the yard. I get him out of the crate and ask him if he wants ‘outside.’ As I lead him to the door he hikes his leg on the wall and shows me his stained teeth again.

When we come in he goes to the crate because that’s the only safe place he sees. I offer him food but he won’t eat it if I look at him, so I turn my back. When I come back the food is gone. I ask again about ‘outside.’ When we come back I pat him before I let him in the crate, he jerks away and runs into the crate to show me his teeth.

The next day I decide I can’t stand the stink any longer. I lead him into the bath with cheese in my hand. His fear of me is not quite overcome by his wish for the cheese. And well he should fear me, for I will give him a bath.

After an attempt or two to bail out he is defeated and stands there. I have bathed four legged bath squirters for more dog years than he has been alive. His only defense was a show of his stained teeth that did not hold up to a face full of water.

As I wash him it is almost as if I wash not only the stink and dirt away but also some of his hardness. His eyes look full of sadness now. And he looks completely pitiful as only a soap covered dog can. I tell him that he will feel better when he is cleaned. After the soap the towels are not too bad so he lets me rub him dry. I take him outside. He runs for joy. The joy of not being in the tub and the joy of being clean. I, the bath giver, am allowed to share the joy. He comes to me and lets me pet him.

His skin is healing. He likes for me to pet him. I think I know what color he will be when his hair grows in. I have found out he is terrified of other dogs. So I carefully introduce him to my mildest four legged brat. It doesn’t go well.

Two weeks later a new vet bill for an infection that was missed on the first visit. He plays with the other dogs.

Three weeks later he asks to be petted. He chewed up part of the rug.

Eight weeks later his coat shines, he has gained weight. He shows his clean teeth when his tongue lolls out after he plays chase in the yard with the gang. His eyes are soft and filled with life. He loves hugs and likes to show off his tricks, if you have the cheese.

Someone adopted him today... When they saw him the first time they said he was the most beautiful dog they had ever seen.

Six months later I got a call from his new family. He is wonderful, smart, well behaved and very loving. How could someone not want him? I told them I didn’t know. He is beautiful. They all are".

Fosters change the world, so please consider opening your home to a dog in need 🙏🐾
