WONDERFUL UPDATE!

Oakley has now been bred!!!! We are very excited for this breeding!
Both dogs are titled Started Hunt Retrievers, both have their obedience titles as well as Dock Diving, Fetch and others and both have the most amazing personalities! Fully health tested and excellent pedigree!
They are wonderful family dogs raised in our home. Mom & Dad both on site. They love to cuddle and have a great off switch as much as they love to work!
This will be an all yellow litter that can range from light, ( like Dad) to dark red, ( like mom)!
If interested please contact us to be added to our wait list.
Pregnancy confirmation ultrasound scheduled for Nov 11th!
Puppy due date is Dec 13!
Pups should be due to go home in time for Valentines Day!

So... we did a thing this weekend! We went to a confirmation show in St Clairsville OH where (pending AKC approval) Bean earned her Puppy of Achievement and Molly went Reserve Winners Bitch.
THEN...9 month old Bean competed in her first ever Rally Novice trial where she took a 4th place with an 87 in her first run but then a 95 earning 1st place for her 2nd leg!!!
Love these girlies!!!

Every now and then a litter of pure black Labradors arrives with one puppy wearing a small white patch on its chest, like a tiny medallion. Many people think it is a flaw. It is actually a whisper from history. 🐾

The Labrador descends from the St. John's water dog of Newfoundland, a hardy black dog that often carried white markings on the chest, chin, feet, and muzzle, a sort of faded tuxedo. As the modern breed was refined through the 1800s, breeders selected toward solid coats, but the old genes never fully disappeared. That occasional white chest spot is a living echo of the seafaring ancestor that started it all.

So while the show ring may frown on it, that little splash of white is really a signature from the past. 🌊

A reminder that today's sleek black Lab is only a few generations removed from a working dog on the cold Newfoundland coast.
