Treetown Dogs

OK, I confessed, I watch these every time they come into my feed. They just keep getting more clever and more fun! I could see doing this with one of my dogs for sure.

This memory popped up on my feed from 7 years ago. My cat, Widget, doing her thing. #2 and #1, respectively.
She was a strictly indoor cat, but I never had a litter box after I trained her to use the toilet!
And yes, cat people, I can help you with that--but it might be significantly harder with more than one cat.

I've loved a lot of dogs in my life, big and small, and every one of them became my "favorite dog". But Pasha, my first Kangal Dog, brought as a pup from a village in eastern Turkey... he was especially special.

Time for a laugh! This is how I too have taught dozens of dogs to roll over. Hands-off, no force, no fear!
It's also a brilliant take-down of so-called "balanced" trainers. ( I love the outfit and the Kong grenades hanging on his jacket, ha ha! Nice touch!)

Happy National Dog Day, y'all!
I don't think I'd survive without mine... though I'm pretty sure each wishes they didn't have to share me. 🥹

Hey everyone! I've MOVED from western NC to Ann Arbor, MI. HendoDogs is now Treetown Dog Training!

If you live in the greater A2 area, I will come to your house or an agreed-on location to help you train your dog.

Uh oh--don’t live near me? I'm offering private online training again! As I discovered during COVID, when ALL my training moved to Zoom, there are some real advantages. For one thing, sessions are recorded, and a link sent to you to watch at your leisure. Because we cover a LOT of concepts and practice in each session, you'll appreciate being able to watch, take notes, and to start/stop as needed.

Please contact me to find out how Treetown Dogs can help you and your best buddy.

Would you like to teach your dog some tricks? It's enriching for your dog, fun for you, and enhances training skills for both of you. But really, all training is "tricks" if you make it fun.

This is my little Jeepers, practicing a new trick with my dog-trainer friend Jackie. Although Jeep was a nervous little guy, he learned a great many tricks, and loved performing! The more the dog learns (earning rewards every step of the way), the more confident he becomes to try new things, and the easier it is to teach subsequent tricks. Fun and enriching!

My article on animal welfare and training for calm was published on the PPG's "Pets and Their People" site today. Check it out!

calm: not showing or feeling nervousness, anger, or other strong emotions.
