Loki’s Story ❤️🐾

For most of his life, nail trims were one of his biggest fears. Like many dogs, Loki had developed a deep anxiety surrounding the process. Every appointment became more stressful, and eventually it reached the point where he required heavy sedation to attempt a nail trim.

I’ve now had the privilege of visiting Loki for his nail trims six times so far.

Have all of our visits been perfect? Absolutely not. We’ve had great days, and we’ve had some challenging ones. But each visit has been another opportunity to build trust and positive reinforcement.

Today, I’m so excited to share that Loki’s trazodone dose has been reduced by 50% (from 400 mg the night before and 400 mg the morning of his appointment) to just 200 mg the night before and 200 mg the morning of.

Even better? We’re successfully trimming all four paws with lots of patience, encouragement from Mom, plenty of peanut butter, and taking everything at Loki’s pace.

Mom has been incredibly dedicated throughout this journey, and together we’ve learned what works best for him. That teamwork has made all the difference.

This is exactly why I started At Home Pet Co.

Sometimes pets don’t need to be “forced through” a scary experience, they just need someone willing to meet them where they are.

Building trust takes time, consistency, patience, and understanding, but the payoff is incredible.

In home care isn’t just about convenience. For many pets, it’s about reducing stress, creating positive associations, and making necessary care something they can actually tolerate.

⭐️✨ Team Member Introductions: ✨⭐️

Hello everyone! My name is Danyel Koontz -

I had been working in the animal field for about 11 years, nearly 10 of those in Veterinary Medicine, before I decided to become a stay SAHM to my 2 kids (2 & 6 years old) in December 2025. It was not an easy decision, especially because animals bring me so much joy ❤️ In my free time (when i get it 😅) I like to care for my numerous indoor house plants & outdoor “chaos” garden of fruits/veggies. I enjoy being outside doing almost anything but walking trails and fishing are my top favorites! As a family - we love to go to splash pads/water parks, go on ice cream dates, walk our dogs (Gemma - German Shepherd, Harper - Pitbull mix), cookout and spend time with our extended family members!

I have a wide range of experience including annual checkups, kennel work, anesthesia (surgery), ER (not the human kind), minor grooming & much more! I am willing to do ALMOST anything to make those babies happy!😉

I am very laid back, flexible & willing to accommodate when needed. Don’t hesitate to ask!

While your pets are in my care, I will always treat them as my own! 🐩🐾🐈
