Look who’s back! 🐾❤️

Lincoln is a previous RuffLife client and is staying with us for a bit! While he’s here, we’re taking the opportunity to build on everything he already knows and introduce some new skills.

This week, we’re working on body awareness—helping Lincoln slow down, think about where his feet are, and learn how to better control and move his body.

Training is never really “finished.” There’s always something new to learn, and Lincoln is having a blast doing it! 🐶👏

🎓 Zeki went HOME! 🐾❤️

This handsome boy has officially wrapped up his Board & Train and headed home to his family!

Zeki worked hard while he was here... building better communication, learning new skills, and gaining the tools he needs to make better choices.

Now comes the most important part: transferring everything he learned back home! Training doesn’t end when a dog leaves us. Our job is to give them a strong foundation, then coach their family so they can continue building on it together.

We’re so proud of you, Zeki! Now go show your family what you know! 🥹🐾

Oakley said sign me up!

This sweet girl has been struggling with some resource guarding behaviors, but the good news is her parents recognized it and are already taking steps to help her succeed.

After just ONE session, we are already seeing progress! 👏

Resource guarding can be stressful for both dogs and owners, but the right guidance and consistency, things can improve quickly.

We're excited to continue helping Oakley and her family build confidence, trust, and a better relationship together! ❤️

One of the mistakes often made isn't using the wrong tool...

It is waiting until your dog already is having behavioral problems before training or interacting with them!

Training does not happen only when your dog is pulling, lunging, barking, or ignoring you.... It happens in the quiet moments too!

The more you help your dog practice success, the more it will become a habit.

Don't just correct the behavior you don't want.... build the behaviors you do want!

🌱 Professional training tip from Sister:

If you find a good patch of grass...

Roll in it immediately.

No hesitation.
No questions.
Just commit.

Sometimes I think the dogs have life figured out better than the rest of us. 😂

After all the training sessions, walks, and learning, it's important to remember that dogs are still dogs.

They need time to play, explore, sniff, and enjoy being themselves.

Sister definitely understood the assignment. 🐾❤️

🐾 Every dog deserves a chance.

This is Button walking alongside Mothra.

What makes this moment special isn't the walk...t's the journey that got her here.

I know I shared a little about Button last week, but her story is one that so many dog owners need to hear.

Before I met Button, her mom spent years searching for answers, working with countless trainers and behavioral professionals. She was told Button was an "8 out of 10" on a dog aggression scale, with 10 being a "killer dog."

Medication was recommended, and the outlook wasn't encouraging. The message was essentially that this was just who Button was.

Knowing what I know about Button now, that assessment couldn't be further from the truth.

More importantly, imagine how heartbreaking that must have been for an owner doing everything she could to help her dog, only to feel let down by the very people she trusted for guidance.

This is the part of my job that breaks my heart and makes me so frustrated 😡.

Had Button's mom stopped looking for help, no one would have blamed her. But if she had given up, this picture would not exist. The peace Button has today would not exist.

Before we label dogs, let's make sure we truly understand them.

Dogs aren't numbers.

They aren't diagnoses.

What Button needed wasn't another label. She needed a plan, clear communication, and someone willing to see the dog behind the behavior.

And a huge shoutout to her owner for never giving up on her. ❤️🐾

🌦️ Rain or shine, the dogs still need training.

Last week Betty and I were out getting our steps in while the weather tried its best to convince us otherwise. Judging by the look on her face, she was fully prepared to keep going whether I was or not 😂

One of the mistakes we make as owners (myself included) is waiting to train when conditions will be perfect...
Dogs don't live in perfect conditions.

They need to learn to listen when it's windy (especially in Amarillo), rainy, busy, distracting, and when life is happening around them.

The more environments and situations your dog successfully navigatges, the more reliable they become in the real world.

So today we embrace the weather and get to work!
