We missed the chance to wish a very special boy a Happy 1st Birthday, but we couldn’t let the moment pass without celebrating him now!

Fletcher holds a unique place in our hearts as the very first Belgian Draft horse ever born here at the farm and sanctuary. From the day he arrived, he brought so much joy, excitement, and hope to everyone who watched him grow.

Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of seeing Fletcher transform from a wobbly-legged foal into a handsome young horse with a big personality and an even bigger future ahead of him. He has become a wonderful ambassador for the love, care, and second chances that our sanctuary is all about.

Happy Belated 1st Birthday, Fletcher! Thank you for making history at our farm and for bringing smiles to all who meet you. We can’t wait to see what the years ahead have in store for you.

Help us send Fletcher some birthday love in the comments! 🎉

***URGENT***
These 3 Belgian Draft Horses are still out there, running out of time. Every day they wait is a day closer to a truck ride the moment that border reopens. Once it does, there will be no warning and no second chance, the decision will be made for them, and it won't be a good one.

We need to get them out now, before that happens. That means funding for transport and intake. We don't have time to wait and see. We need to act.

Please share this post. Please donate, even just a little. Half of this group is already safe because people like you stepped up. Let's finish the job and bring all 6 home.

At the end of April, two beautiful colts came into the world under very different circumstances.

One was born right here on our farm after his mama was rescued from the slaughter pipeline and given a second chance at life. The other was born in a kill pen in Oklahoma, where both he and his mama faced an uncertain future.

Today, both colts and their moms are safe here with us. The boys are thriving, growing stronger every day, and have become the best of friends. You’ll often find them racing around together, playing, exploring, and enjoying the carefree life every foal deserves.

Their story is a reminder of how much can change when horses are given a chance. What could have been a heartbreaking ending became a new beginning not just for these two colts, but for their mothers as well.

Seeing these little boys grow up alongside their moms, surrounded by safety, friendship, and love, is why we do what we do. Thank you to everyone who supports our rescue and helps make stories like theirs possible.

🚨 6 Horses. One Chance. Please Help Us Save Them Before It’s Too Late. 🚨

Four Belgian Draft horses and two Percherons are currently sitting in a kill pen in McLean, TX waiting to be shipped out.

Under normal circumstances, these horses would be loaded onto a truck and sent across the border to slaughter in Mexico. But right now, the situation may be even more dire.

On June 8, 2026, the USDA halted live animal exports to Mexico following the detection of New World screwworm in the United States. While that may sound like good news, it has created a devastating new crisis for horses trapped in the slaughter pipeline.

These horses cannot cross the border right now, but they are not safe.

Instead, kill buyers and holding facilities are sending horses to overcrowded border lots where they wait in limbo for the border to reopen. Reports describe animals packed tightly together with inadequate access to food, water, and proper care as they endure days or weeks of uncertainty.

For these six horses, time is running out.

We have a chance to pull them to safety before they disappear into that system, but we need your help.

❤️ Please donate if you can.
📢 Please share this post far and wide.

Every dollar matters. Every share reaches someone new. Every act of kindness brings these horses one step closer to safety.

This may be one of the most important rescue efforts we’ve faced in years.

Please help us save these six beautiful horses before it’s too late.

Welcome home!!! A mare who had no one. A jenny who was separated and scared. A one-eyed gelding who needed a second chance. And a Percheron who arrived last week. This trailer is full of survivors and every single one of them are home thanks to an incredibly generous sponsor who transferred a stock donation to make it all possible.

Their gift funded the rest of this rescue. That is the power of giving stock. Another donor sent a check for the balance of the geldings rescue!

If you'd like to make an impact the same way by transfering stock, all the details are under the donate tab at www.bighooffoundation.org

Thank you to everyone that made this rescue possible!

Welcome home, big guy!
We are absolutely thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Big Hoof Foundation family, a stunning registered Percheron gelding rescued from Bowie Texas Livestock! This gentle giant is finally home, and we couldn't be more in love.
This rescue was made possible by an incredibly generous stock donation from one of our amazing supporters.

Because of their gift, this beautiful boy has a second chance and that is something we will never take for granted.

Did you know that donating appreciated stock is one of the most powerful ways to support our mission? When you transfer shares directly to the Big Hoof Foundation, you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes while still claiming a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of your gift. No selling, no hassle just a meaningful contribution that goes straight to work helping horses like this handsome fella find safety, care, and a future.

Once we receive stock donations, we convert them into funds that directly support our programs and the communities that care for horses. It's a win for you and a win for them.

If you'd like to make a stock donation or learn more about how it works, all the transfer details can be found at

Shipping day is always one of the hardest days in rescue work. It's the day the clock runs out. It's the day that separates the ones who make it from the ones who don't. And no matter how many times we do this, it never gets easier.

This week, we got the call no one ever wants to be too late for.

Mare Lot #284 arrived alongside Gelding Lot #286, a horse we were fortunate enough to bring home last week. But #284 had no one coming for her. No pledges, no rescue lined up, no one fighting for her corner. So the lot called us directly and asked if we could take her. Without hesitation, we said yes. Because that's what we do. Every animal deserves a chance, and we were not going to let her run out of time without a fight.

At the same time, an incredible sponsor stepped up in the biggest way. Four jennies had come into the lot together, two bonded pairs who had relied on each other through what must have been an incredibly frightening experience. But in the final hours, both bonded pair were separated, leaving their friend behind. Separated from their friends, their companions, the ones they had leaned on, they were now alone, scared, and running out of time. When our sponsor heard their story, they didn't hesitate. They covered the bail for both jennies.

Then we received a call that stopped us cold.

One of the jennies had passed away before we could get to her. We are absolutely heartbroken. She was so close to making it. She had someone fighting for her.

In her memory, the funds that had been designated for her bail were not wasted. They were redirected with purpose and are now helping to save Lot #1179, a gelding missing an eye and giving another animal the second chance she never got to have.

And because we simply cannot do an end of the month rescue without an extra traveler, we are also rescuing a beautiful registered Percheron from Bowie Texas Livestock. These big, gentle giants so often go overlooked, and we are so grateful to be able to open our doors to him as well.

These rescues are only possible because of YOU. The sponsors who step up, the donors who give what they can, the followers who share our posts and spread the word, you are the reason these animals make it home. You are the reason we can say yes when the lot calls. You are the reason that trailer has a full load of survivors instead of animals left behind.

We are currently running a fundraiser to cover the bail and transport costs for all of these rescues. Every dollar makes a difference. Every share saves a life.

Yes… I’m absolutely a helicopter horse mom.

If you ever wonder why I always have my phone out filming the horses, it’s because something is ALWAYS happening around here. The sweet moments, the funny moments, the chaos, the drama, the zoomies… I never want to miss it.

Half the time I’m recording because they’re being adorable, and the other half I’m recording because I just know nobody would believe me otherwise.

If you love keeping up with the horses and want even more behind-the-scenes videos, updates, and exclusive content, come join our Patreon family! We share all the day-to-day moments that don’t always make it to social media.

In just a few short weeks, Noah will celebrate the 3rd anniversary of his rescue. Noah arrived at rescue in June 2023 from the Bowie Livestock Auction as tag #136. Estimated to be 21 years old, Noah now spends his days enjoying a well-earned retirement.

He’s an old soul who loves to relax, observe the antics of the other rescue animals, and simply enjoy the peaceful life he deserves.

If you’d like to help support Noah’s ongoing care, you can sponsor him here:
