Meet Dakota! 🧡🤍 He’s officially joining us as a new foster and Board & Train.

Dakota will be spending some time with me working on his manners, confidence, obedience, and learning how to navigate everyday life in a home environment. While he’s here, he’ll also get plenty of structure, socialization, outings, and one-on-one training.

I’m excited to see how much he grows during his time with us and, most importantly, help set him up for success in his forever home. 🐾

First, welcome back Poppy! We’re continuing to build on the work she’s already put in and taking her training to the next level.

And welcome Smokey! We’re excited to start this journey with him and build a strong foundation together.

Over the next four weeks, these two will be working alongside their handlers through individualized training designed around their specific goals.

One of the biggest skills we work on at ARX K9 is neutrality. 🐾

Your dog doesn’t have to greet every dog.
They don’t have to chase every movement.
They don’t have to be involved in everything happening around them.

Sometimes the goal is simply: “I see it, and I can relax.”

This is what building calm, confident dogs looks like.

Socialization is more than simply letting dogs play. 🐾

Learning how to communicate, read body language, engage appropriately, and disengage when needed are all important parts of developing a well-rounded dog.

Structured play can be a great way to build confidence, improve communication, and practice self-regulation around other dogs.

Good socialization = knowing when to play AND when to walk away.

The first few days can set the tone for your entire relationship.

Before giving your new dog unlimited freedom, start with the basics:
✨ Create structure
✨ Set clear boundaries
✨ Start training from day one

You don’t need to wait for problems to start training. The goal is to prevent bad habits from becoming learned behaviors and give your dog clear expectations from the beginning.

Meet Jessie 🐾

Our newest foster girl is a 9-month-old Pyrenees mix with the biggest personality.

She’s got endless energy, loves everyone she meets, is obsessed with other dogs, and somehow still thinks she’s a lap dog.

Jessie is just getting started with us and we’ll be working on basic obedience, confidence, and getting her comfortable with the world around her. I’m excited to see how much this girl grows! 🐾

Oscar is my 5-month-old foster from the Humane Society, and I’ll have him for the next 10 days to help set him up for success before he finds his forever home.

Right now, he’s still a little unsure about the leash. His pattern is pull → feel pressure → come back → pull again, and he’ll occasionally jump up when he’s looking for reassurance.

During his time with me, we’ll focus on building his confidence, teaching him to give to leash pressure instead of fighting it, and slowly introducing him to calm, mature dogs so he can learn from their example. One thing he’s already doing really well is his off switch. He settles and relaxes beautifully, which is an amazing foundation to build on.

Give your dog the benefits of personalized training while building confidence around another dog in a structured, low-distraction environment.

This 4-week program combines the one-on-one coaching of private lessons with the real-world advantages of a small class, helping you and your dog develop practical skills you can use every day.

✨ Only 2 dogs per class
📅 Starts Wednesday, September 23
🕠 5:30–6:30 PM
📍 Location TBD

What’s included:
• Individualized coaching tailored to your goals
• Real-world training and exposure
• Homework and support between sessions
• A focused, low-distraction learning environment
