This magical and serene ranch-style retreat, with its 20-acres of terrain, is a safe haven to over 200 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world. The Retreat is specifically designed to help children develop a sense of w

onder for nature and its inhabitants through unstructured exploration and learning. Fun and educational `interactive encounters’ are available for everyone to learn and foster an appreciation for animals, nature, sustainable farming and the ecosystem. Our Vision

In our increasingly digital-dependent and urbanized world, we are loosing touch with nature. With this in mind, we believe the Children’s Nature Retreat offers a rich connection to the earth, its plants and animals. We allow guests to step away from their fast pace life, reduce stress levels and find their balance in nature.

Meet Borat 🐣
This tiny baby emu arrived at Alpine Acres yesterday after hatching on April 26 — and already, he’s stolen every heart on the farm.
Borat was hatched at a home and was initially going to go to a horse ranch, but when it became clear that environment wouldn’t be adequate for his needs, he found his way to us. Good thing he did — because Borat came with a challenge. He developed leg issues that make it impossible for him to walk on his own.
Within hours of his arrival, we had him in with the incredible Dr. Hare for a full exam, weight check, and custom braces. He’s currently settled in a stall in the barn with soft mats so he doesn’t slip while he builds his strength.
At night, Borat goes home with Agnes — tucked into a cozy box so she can monitor him closely, feed him, and make sure he doesn’t topple into his bowls. Until he’s steady enough to manage on his own, he’s got a personal night nurse. 🐣
Dr. Hare is hopeful Borat will walk. And honestly? So are we. 🙏
Watch the video to see this little guy in action — braces and all.

Behind the scenes work at the farm. Suzy, former animal keeper at the farm, now horse and dog trainer is volunteering weekly at the farm. Arlo, Nyx and Belle love her and our horses too!

🇺🇸 Happy Memorial Day - We’re Open today! 🇺🇸
Come spend some quality time with some of our most unforgettable residents! 🐂🪶
Meet Kirikou, our Zebu, and Olivia, our ostrich — who gave us quite the show today! She spotted a guest nearby, puffed up her feathers to her full dramatic glory... made absolutely sure everyone knew she was in charge... and then turned around and walked away like the queen she is. 👑

Every day here is a reminder of how expressive and extraordinary these animals truly are. We are so lucky. 💛

Yesterday’s Behind the Scenes Tour 🌿
Some visits leave a mark on your heart — and yesterday’s was one of them.
A sweet young couple joined us for a private behind-the-scenes tour to celebrate their anniversary, and from the moment they arrived, it was pure magic.
Flicka welcomed them with all the warmth and affection she’s known for, making them feel right at home. Dottie the sheep wandered over to say hello on her own terms — because Dottie always knows when someone is worth checking out. Meadow our beloved geep (half goat, half sheep, all personality) made sure they knew she was not to be overlooked. Then there was Thor — all 250 pounds of him — moving through the world at his own ancient, unhurried pace, completely unbothered and utterly magnificent.
And Boots? Boots gave them exactly what everyone hopes for — a little extra love.
The whole three-hour tour had this rare, unhurried quality to it. No rushing, no noise — just two people, completely present, surrounded by animals who have known their share of hardship and chosen gentleness anyway.
This is why we do what we do. ❤️
If you’d like to gift someone a behind-the-scenes experience — a birthday, an anniversary, a moment that needs marking — our tours run approximately three hours and are truly unlike anything else. We’d love to make it happen.

From root to bloom — this is what beyond-organic looks like. 🌿🌸 Radishes, carrots, cabbages, sunflowers, lavender, and fruit slowly ripening in the sun… Alpine Acres is alive and thriving.

Meet two of our bravest ones 🐐
Walnut, our senior Nubian goat, broke a horn — and Dollie, our senior little Nigerian Dwarf, needed cryotherapy again for her recurring tumor. Dr. Blanche from ECLAP came out and took beautiful care of them both.
Dollie’s tumor is a type that can’t spread, but it keeps coming back — so we stay on top of it with regular cryotherapy to keep her comfortable and thriving.
Every animal at Alpine Acres gets the medical attention they need, no matter what. That’s the promise. Thank you for making it possible. 💚

🌿 To all our desert friends in Imperial Valley, Yuma and greater desert areas friends — Come cool off with us! We’re your summer escape.
When the thermometer climbs past 110°, Alpine Acres is waiting for you — just 45 minutes away. Tall shade trees, cooler mountain air, peaceful pastures, and nearly 200 rescued animals who’d love to meet you.
Slow down. Breathe. Let the kids wander. Feed a goat. Watch a camel do camel things.
This is what summer was supposed to feel like.
