When I see those new to Highland cattle describing "Top Tier", "Amazing" or "Best Quality" Genetics, I remind myself that those same individuals think this train wreck of conformation is a good representation of a Bull 🤔

Conformation over color!

Many who are new to Highland cattle are unfamiliar with basic cattle conformation and what good conformation qualities to look for!

The foundation of any bovine is their feet & legs! This provides them the ability for movement to forage, and move with the herd over terrain. Poor conformation, and genetic defects, will result in the premature breakdown of joints, bones, and soft tissue and should be selected away from when choosing animals for breeding stock!

We see far too many new to cattle prioritizing a specific color animal, over one with good conformation, when really it should be the other way around. If you are looking at animals as potentential breeding stock, one should look at their feet, legs, and overall conformation, over what color their hair is!
