I have remained quiet for a long time, but there comes a point when silence allows one-sided stories to be repeated until people start treating them as facts.
For clarity: I no longer work for my former employer because I was terminated shortly after my family moved out of their home. The reason given to me at the time of my termination is documented in written messages, and I have retained those messages. The circumstances surrounding my termination were also addressed through the unemployment process, where I was found eligible for unemployment benefits.
Since my termination, I have continued to see accusations and statements made about me and, more recently, attempts to damage the reputation of my business.
I am not going to name people, engage in personal attacks, or turn this into a social-media war. But I am also not going to allow accusations about me or my business to be presented as facts without evidence.
If the things now being claimed about my conduct were actually the reason I was terminated, there should be legitimate evidence supporting those claims. I have the written communications from the time of my termination documenting the reason that was given to me, as well as documentation from the unemployment proceedings.
I know what happened. I have the documentation to support my account, and I am comfortable allowing the facts to speak for themselves.
People are entitled to their opinions. They are not entitled to knowingly present false statements about someone or their business as established fact. Statements that are false and damaging can have serious consequences, including potential defamation concerns.
I have no interest in retaliation. I have no interest in attacking anyone personally. But I will protect my reputation and my business through the appropriate channels if these accusations continue.
If someone is going to make serious accusations about me or my business publicly, I simply ask that they be prepared to provide the evidence supporting them.
I have nothing to hide. I have the messages. I have the documentation. And I am done allowing someone else’s version of events to be treated as the only version.
