Cat Myth: "Cats always land on their feet."

Cats do have an impressive righting reflex, but that doesn't mean they're immune to injury.

Falls from windows, balconies, and other high places can still result in serious injuries. That's why secure window screens and cat-safe outdoor spaces are so important.

Being agile isn't the same thing as being invincible!

Enrichment Idea: Nature Box!

Bring the outdoors inside by filling a box with cat-safe natural items like leaves, sticks, grass, or bark. Sprinkle in a few treats and let your cat sniff, explore, and investigate.

For cats, exploring new scents and textures is enriching and mentally stimulating!

Be sure all plants are cat-safe and free of pesticides.

Quick Cat Fact

Ever wonder why your cat stretches so often?

Stretching helps cats increase blood flow to their muscles, maintain flexibility, and prepare their bodies for movement after resting. It may also be one way cats mark territory, thanks to scent glands in their paws!

So the next time your cat does a big stretch, they're doing more than just looking adorable.

Enrichment Tip: iPad Games for Cats

Did you know some cats enjoy interactive games on a tablet?

Apps with moving fish, bugs, or lasers can tap into your cat’s natural hunting instincts, encouraging them to stalk, paw, and pounce right on the screen.

It’s a great option for short bursts of mental stimulation, especially on rainy or low-energy days. Just be sure to occasionally toss a treat to reduce frustration if they can't catch their prey.

And let’s be honest…

Between kids and cats, we’re all just out here sharing our electronics now.

Enrichment comes in many forms, even occasionally the digital kind.

Quick Cat Fact

Did you know a group of cats is called a clowder?

While many cats prefer their independence, they can form social groups, especially when resources like food and safe shelter are available. These groups (clowders!) often develop their own social structure, with familiar cats choosing to rest, groom, or spend time near one another.

You might even notice this in multi-cat homes, where certain cats bond more closely and form their own little “friend groups.”

Cats may be known for their independence, but they’re more social than we often give them credit for.

If your clowder is having trouble getting along, set up an appointment today.

Cat Myth

Myth: Declawing is just like trimming a cat’s nails.

Truth: Declawing is actually a surgical procedure that removes part of the last bone in each toe. It can lead to pain and behavioral changes.

There are many humane alternatives to support healthy scratching behavior.
