Enrichment Tip: Make Playtime Interactive!

Interactive play is one of the best ways to enrich your cat's day.

Using a wand toy lets your cat stalk, chase, pounce, and "catch" their prey which are behaviors that come naturally to them. Vary the speed, let the toy hide behind furniture, and don't forget to let your cat catch it every now and then to keep the game rewarding.

Even 5-15 minutes of interactive play each day can help reduce boredom, build confidence, and provide a healthy outlet for your cat's energy.

A few minutes of play can make a big difference in creating a happier, healthier kitty.

Myth: Cats act out of spite.

Truth: Cats don't behave out of revenge or spite. When a cat suddenly starts scratching furniture, avoiding the litter box, hiding, or becoming more reactive, they're usually trying to communicate that something isn't right.

Behavior changes can be caused by stress, fear, frustration, changes in the environment, or an underlying medical issue. Instead of asking, "How do I stop this behavior?" try asking, "What is my cat trying to tell me?"

Understanding the why behind a behavior is the first step toward helping your cat and creating a happier, more peaceful home.
