They help to strengthen their immune system by introducing harmless versions of disease-causing agents, known as antigens, into their bodies. This exposure stimulates an immune response that prepares the body to defend against future infections so pets can continue living life with a wagging tail. Vaccinations can add years to their lives by preventing diseases that could cause long-term health issues. Preventing diseases through vaccinations is often more affordable than treating the illnesses those diseases cause. Regular vaccinations can save pet owners from hefty veterinary bills associated with prolonged treatments. Finally, some pet diseases, such as rabies and leptospirosis, can be transmitted to humans! By vaccinating our pets, we also contribute to public health by reducing the risk of zoonotic infections.

Grapes are a cold and delicious treat in the summer, but they are NOT for our canine companions! Make sure you keep all foods containing grapes up, up, and away from your dogs’ reach! 🍇

Grapes, raisins, and even currants can be more dangerous to dogs than most pet parents realize. Even only a few grapes have been linked to sudden kidney failure that may not show up for days, and homegrown or organic grapes carry the same risk.

Veterinary medicine hasn't pinpointed why some dogs react and others don't, or confirmed what makes grapes so toxic, which is exactly why any known ingestion is treated as a potential emergency, not just the large ones.

A pet's coat acts as a natural insulator, protecting them from both the cold and the summer heat. Regular brushing removes trapped undercoat and dead fur, allowing air to circulate better against their skin. Remember, avoid shaving double-coated breeds! Shaving breeds like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, or German Shepherds permanently damages their coat structure and robs them of their natural temperature regulation. It can also expose their delicate skin to direct sunlight, causing sunburn.
