Acton Community Dog Park

It's official! Following a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, the Acton Community Dog Park be open to the public after 2 PM on Friday, June 5. Park hours are dawn to dusk. PARKING IS LIMITED and we expect many visitors in the first several days. If you are unable to access the park, please return another day or time. Our dog park is almost ready!

If you've driven by the site lately, you will notice:
- benches and water fountains have been installed
- landscaping is done
- the parking lot has been prepped
- waste bag dispensers are in place

We have just a few more loose ends to take care of: parking lot striping, signage, trash barrels, a shed and a message board.

Plans are being made for a ribbon cutting, and we anticipate being open in early June.

Good things come to those who wait!

We're in the home stretch! Woodall Construction will be back at the dog park site this week to start the final phase of work: installing benches, water fountains, and a storage shed; adding the last layer of ground cover; finishing the parking area; installing signs and waste stations.

Please be advised that the dog park is an active construction area and should not be entered or used until the park officially opens later this Spring.

Don't let our community's pets go hungry! The Acton Food Pantry is in desperate need of pet food -- primarily for dogs and cats. They accept canned food, kibble, and treats of all kinds. Smaller bags of kibble are preferred so it can be most easily distributed to needy families, and even open bags are accepted.

Donations can be delivered directly to Acton Food Pantry (235 Summer Road Building #1, Lower Level in the Boxborough Business Park, Boxborough) at the following times:
Monday from 10:00 to 4:00 PM
Tuesday from 10:00 to 4:00 PM
Thursday from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Friday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Have you driven by the dog park site recently? So much progress!
- boulders in place for seat walls
- drainage system in progress
- gravel base for ground cover partly installed
- fence posts going up as well as frames for the cement walkways

Our construction company will keep working so long as weather allows, and will finish up in the Spring. It's really (finally) happening!
