Another incredible presentation on the Blackworm Breeder Box Method is in the books!

One of the most rewarding moments was hearing attendees who had seen my previous blackworm presentation say this was completely different and packed with brand new information. Even more exciting were the comments: “I’ve searched Google for this and can’t find this information anywhere.”

That feedback confirms these observations, experiments, and discoveries are breaking new ground and challenging long held assumptions about blackworms, biological processing, and the aquarium ecosystem itself. 🪱🔬🐠

I can’t thank the Norwalk Aquarium Society for such an incredible visit to your club! When a club visit consist of going to the Bronx Zoo and coming home with some of the most incredible killifish from one of the most respected killifish keepers in the hobby I would say that’s way more then just a visit it was inexperience I will never forget. Here is what I have tested out using the new Estes rocks that have been provided. It’s looking like this will be the solution to a new culture with not a lot of organic biological material built up.

This is a great opportunity to see what is happening with the system since in the food trail we are seeing the same activity in the worms.

I have used a similar technique in other cultures and it has worked 100% of the time over the years.

We focus on what to feed but seem to forget that they are eating the substrate that they are living in as well. We are not dealing with an inert substance. We are dealing with living organisms. That must be added into the equation or we will not get the correct answer.

🪱🌱 Blackworm Food Trail Update!

It’s been a while, but progress is happening! 🚧

The last few weeks have been packed with repairs and upgrades, and I finally squeezed in some time to work on the blackworm updates.

✅ Both fish racks now have automatic water-fill systems!

I’ll share more details soon because the setup is simpler than most people think and can save a TON of time. 💧⚙️

Blackworm experiments continue!

This time I am asking workshop participants for your help in the next experiment.

Of course you at home can also participate in discovering what is the best way to get blackworms to settle with easy blackworm removal in mind.

Anyone that has ever used regular gravel knows it’s not that easy to get blackworms out so let’s try to change that and discover a better way.

It’s official we are gearing up for the next upcoming experiment in the Blackworm Breeder Box Method.

We will use all the same foods that are being used in the food trial. The only difference will be the rocks.
