The weasel is a silent animal, and it makes sounds infrequently. During games, courtship, and when mothers call their cubs, the weasel calls out - it produces a high tremolo. When dissatisfied or in danger, the weasel hisses, and when attacked, it chirps and chirps.

In summer fur, the top of the head, back, flanks, tail, and outer sides of the paws are monochromatic brownish-brown. The throat, the edge of the upper lip, the chest, the abdomen, and the inner surface of the legs are pure white. In autumn, except for some southern areas of habitat, the weasel changes its summer brown coat to pure white winter fur. The density of the fur is the same in summer and winter, but the summer hair is shorter and thinner than the winter hair.

The weasel lives in fields and forests, in mountainous and lowland areas, and does not avoid populated areas. It settles under stones, in hollows, in ruins, in burrows, barns, haystacks, etc. To breed, it builds a nest in the hole of a rodent. The nest is lined with dry grass, moss, chestnut leaves, and ferns.

Weasels are beautiful and slender animals, they have an elongated body, short legs, a not very long tail, a small head, and small and rounded ears. The color of the coat usually depends on the season. In winter, it is solid white, and in summer it is two-colored - the back and top of the head are brown, and the belly and breast are white. In some regions, the coat color of weasels does not change and always remains two-colored.

The weasel successfully hunts many small animals. Mice are its most common prey, but it can also catch a hamster, gerbil, mole, rat, and rabbit. It can also hunt birds, lizards, frogs, snakes, and insects. Weasels often raid chicken coops to steal chickens and young hens.
