Why there wasn't the Cat?
The Legend of the Great Race: Why the Rat is #1 🐀✨
Did you ever wonder how the order of the Chinese Zodiac was decided? Legend has it that long ago, the Jade Emperor held a grand race to choose twelve animals to be his eternal palace guards. The rule was simple: their rank would be determined by the order they arrived at the Heavenly Palace. 🏰☁️
The Clever Hitchhiker 🐂+🐀 On the morning of the race, the Rat and the Ox were the first to wake up. But the Rat had a problem—his tiny legs were no match for the rushing river ahead. He turned to the kind-hearted Ox and begged for a ride. The hardworking Ox agreed, letting the Rat nestle into his ear (or perch on his broad back).
The Final Leap 🏁 The Ox powered through the journey with steady strength. But just as he was about to cross the finish line, the Rat suddenly leaped off the Ox's back! By that tiny, cunning margin, the Rat grabbed 1st place, leaving the startled Ox in 2nd. 🥇🥈
An Ancient Feud 🐱💢 But what about the Cat? Believe it or not, the Cat and Rat were once best friends. The Rat promised to wake the Cat up so they could go together, but whether he was selfish or just forgetful, he let the Cat sleep in. By the time the Cat woke up, the race was over.
To this day, the Cat has never forgiven the Rat—and that’s why they’ve been enemies ever since! 🐈💨🐀
