Deworming at Dairy Farm
Why is deworming important? Internal parasites (worms) reduce milk production, cause weight loss, anemia, poor fertility, slow growth, and weaken immunity in cattle and buffaloes.
Common Signs of Worm Infestation
✅ Weight loss despite normal feeding
✅ Reduced milk yield
✅ Rough hair coat
✅ Diarrhea or intermittent loose f***s
✅ Pale mucous membranes (anemia)
✅ Poor growth in calves
✅ Weakness and reduced fertility
Recommended Deworming Schedule
📌 Calves: Every 3–4 months during the first year.
📌 Adult Cattle & Buffaloes: Every 6 months (commonly before and after the rainy season).
📌 Pregnant Animals: Deworm with a safe product as recommended by a veterinarian, usually during mid-pregnancy.
Common Dewormers
Albendazole
Fenbendazole
Ivermectin
Levamisole
Good Farm Practices
✔ Rotate grazing areas.
✔ Keep feeding and watering areas clean.
✔ Remove manure regularly.
✔ Deworm newly purchased animals before mixing with the herd.
✔ Monitor f***l samples periodically.
🐄 Regular deworming = Healthy animals + Higher milk production + Better fertility.
Don't wait for signs of disease—follow a proper deworming schedule to keep your dairy herd productive and profitable.
