A study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science found that 86.7% of veterinarians scored in the moderate or high burnout range. A separate review from the same journal found that by 2021, only 41% of vets would recommend their profession to someone else. In 2005 that number was 75%.
This is not a workforce crisis. It is a systems crisis.
Vets spend multiple unpaid hours daily on record keeping alone — documented across multiple practice surveys. They answer calls at 3 AM with no patient file in front of them. No prior medication history. No allergy record. No previous diagnosis notes. Just their training, their exhaustion, and their commitment to the animal on the other end of the line.
In Pakistan this burden compounds further. No digital records infrastructure. No cross-clinic patient history. No administrative support systems that exist in more developed veterinary markets.
The vet who answered that call last night did so without the tools they deserved to have.
This is the gap Rabbitt exists to close. Not to replace the vet. To give them what they should have had from the beginning.
