Meet Asad: our resident accidental cat dad and lifelong animal lover.

What started as ‘just one rescue’ somehow became a full-time cat colony of eight (and counting). His past roommates (ahem - pets) include snakes (?!! we’re not joking), owls (we still don’t know how he’s living the real-life Harry Potter), and of course, more cats than he’ll admit.

Armed with coffee and endless patience, Asad is proof that one rescue can turn into nine more, and that compassion has no off switch. A connected magnet, he’s now helping build the Meow Mahal community so more cats can find homes (and fewer become ‘temporary’ rescues).

In Islamabad’s markets, food scraps attract cats, and sadly, abandoned pets too. 😿

Many families “release” cats near stalls hoping they’ll survive, but the reality is harsh: traffic, hunger, and disease.

At Meow Mahal, we’re hoping to rescue pets left behind at F-8, G-11, and local dhabas and giving them warmth, food, and safety.

Meet Anjum Sohail: the multitasker of the Meow Mahal crew 🐾🇵🇰

He’s got a cat (or two) in his lap, a coffee in hand, and about five projects running at once. If you can’t find him, check Brew or Sante, he’s probably still there, plotting his next big idea or perfecting his GTA 5 skills.. though we don’t quite know who he’s trying to beat 😅

Known for his ability to nap anywhere (bonus points if there’s a cat nearby) and his love for cars, Anjum somehow makes the grind look chill. He’s our living proof that caffeine, cats, and car talk can power just about anything!

Meet Sarim, cat rescuer by day (and sometimes by night), and one of the awesome humans behind Meow Mahal 🐾🐾

When he’s not helping get cats adopted across Islamabad, you’ll find him on the basketball or padel courts, or deep in an online gaming session (we pretend the late nights are “for work”).

He’s also our resident chai connoisseur: if there’s good chai anywhere in the city, Sarim knows about it. If it involves cats, chai, or competition - he’s already in.

Meet Zaubash: cat mom, chaos manager, and one of the humans behind Meow Mahal 🐾

She’s the proud mother of three rescues (Adrak, Bakhtawar, and Sanober Shakir) who do not appreciate her attempts at crochet fashion or cat wigs. When she’s not running after Bakhty to stop her from eating flowers, or ignoring Adrak’s dramatic meows for food, you’ll find her at the gym or out for a run.

Powered by caffeine, and cat chaos, she’s also the neighborhood’s unofficial caterer and naming committee; feeding every stray that shows up and giving them names like Wawah, Void, Jackie Chan, and Whiskas (against their will, of course). 💜

Meet Abdul Rehmaan, Founder of Meow Mahal 🐱

From feeding 18 stray cats outside his dorm to a shelter for Islamabad’s street cats, he’s been a cat person through and through. When he’s not rescuing paws, he’s hitting the gym, or running 10Ks just for fun!

If there’s energy to burn (whether it’s for fitness or furry friends) Abdul’s leading the way.
