HAMSTER CARE TIPS🐹🐹
🏠 1. Proper Housing
Provide a large, well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of uninterrupted floor space.
Use safe, low-dust bedding deep enough for burrowing.
Give them hides, tunnels, and other safe enrichment.
Avoid small plastic “starter cages” that don't provide enough room.
🥕 2. Food & Water
Use a complete hamster food as the main diet.
Offer small amounts of suitable fresh foods occasionally, such as leafy greens and certain vegetables.
Always provide fresh, clean water.
Avoid chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, onions, garlic, and other potentially harmful foods.
🛞 3. Exercise
A solid-surface exercise wheel is important.
The wheel should be large enough that your hamster can run with a straight back.
Provide opportunities for natural behaviors such as digging, climbing where appropriate, and exploring.
😴 4. Respect Their Sleep
Hamsters are generally most active during the evening and night. 🌙
Don't regularly wake them up during the day to play. Let them wake naturally.
🧼 5. Cleaning
Remove soiled bedding and uneaten fresh food regularly.
Clean the enclosure without completely destroying their familiar scent environment every time.
Avoid strong perfumes or harsh cleaning chemicals.
🐹 6. Handling
Let a new hamster settle in before frequently handling it.
Approach calmly and allow it to smell your hand first.
Never grab a hamster suddenly from above.
Handle them close to the floor or another safe surface to prevent falls.
❤️ 7. Health Check
Watch for changes in:
Appetite or drinking
Activity level
Breathing
Eyes or nose
Fur and skin
Droppings
Weight or general appearance
If your hamster suddenly seems very weak, has difficulty breathing, stops eating, or shows another serious change, tell an adult and contact a veterinarian promptly.
