This intensive learning experience provided valuable insights into the diagnosis and management of Endocrine Diseases (Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Cushing’s and Addison’s Disease) and gastrointestinal disorders in dogs and cats, further strengthening our diagnostic approach and clinical decision-making.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐲𝐞… 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. ❤️🐾

What started as a small corneal scratch quickly progressed into a severe melting corneal ulcer that became resistant to conventional medical treatment. Despite aggressive therapy, Pumbaa’s eye continued to deteriorate, and surgery was becoming our next option.

Before taking that step, we decided to try 𝐴𝑢𝑡𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝐸𝑦𝑒 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑢𝑚 (𝐴𝐸𝑆).

AES is made from the patient’s own blood, which is carefully processed into sterile eye drops. Because it contains naturally occurring growth factors, vitamins, fibronectin, immunoglobulins, and proteins, it helps support corneal healing while slowing tissue breakdown in severe ulcers.

Combined with intensive medical management and dedicated care, the results were remarkable.

Today, Pumbaa has recovered from his melting corneal ulcer, and we were able to preserve his eye. 💛

This case reminds us that:
🐶 Never ignore a “small” eye injury.
👁️ Corneal ulcers can worsen within hours or days.
🏥 Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment can make all the difference.

Every patient is unique, and not every case will respond the same way. AES is not a replacement for surgery when surgery is needed, but in selected cases, it can be an invaluable adjunct to treatment.
