The Silver Arowana is a stunning freshwater fish native to the Amazon and Orinoco river basins. They are classed as prehistoric fish, having evolved only slightly compared to other species of fish on this planet. Their long, sinuous body, upward-facing mouth, and jumping ability, makes them excellent at lunging for prey from the water surface. This behavior also earned them the name “water monkey”.

The silver arowana is quite adaptable and can be found in both black- and whitewater habitats. It even thrives in flooded forests. It usually swims near the water surface waiting for potential prey and catch them with their drawbridge like mouth. They are carnivores and thrive on a diet rich in meaty foods, such as brine shrimp and bloodworms in captivity. Wild specimens have been found with the remains of birds, bats, mice, and snakes in their stomachs

Arowanas are long fish capable of reaching lengths of over 39 inches (100 centimeters), often called 'dragon fish' by aquarists because their shiny, armor-like scales and double barbels are reminiscent of descriptions of dragons in East Asian folklore.

In many Asian traditions, particularly Feng Shui, the Arowana is synonymous with wealth, prosperity, and power. Its resemblance to the mythical Chinese dragon—a creature of immense strength and good fortune—is no coincidence. Some people believe that owning an Arowana can attract positive energy, ward off evil spirits, and bring financial success.

The Real Threats: Not Always the Biggest

Danger isn’t defined by size… it’s measured by impact.

• Mosquito: The deadliest of all, not by strength but by the diseases it silently spreads.

• Snake: Venomous strikes account for tens of thousands of deaths each year across the globe.

• Dog: Human’s closest companion, yet responsible for fatalities mainly through rabies transmission.

• Scorpion: Small, hidden, and armed with venom potent enough to be deadly.

• Crocodile: A powerful ambush predator, striking with speed and crushing force.

• Elephant: Massive and intelligent, but capable of deadly encounters during human-wildlife conflict.

The truth is unsettling
The greatest risks often come from the smallest or the closest.

Because in nature…
danger doesn’t always look dangerous.

THE BIGGEST TIGER EVER vs THE KING OF TODAY

The extinct Panthera tigris soloensis was a true prehistoric giant—larger, heavier, and built for taking down massive Ice Age prey.

Compared to today’s largest cat, the Panthera tigris altaica, the difference is clear…

🔥 Ngandong Tiger: up to ~470 kg (1,000+ lbs)
🔥 Siberian Tiger: ~180–306 kg (400–675 lbs)

From ancient jungles of Java to the frozen forests of Russia—
One ruled the past. One rules today.

👑 But only one holds the title… THE BIGGEST TIGER EVER.

Cute. But invasive

You might have seen them sprinting across Meralco power lines, cutting through trees, or popping up in parks. It's all very cute, but here’s the thing: they’re not supposed to be here.
