In a move celebrating its cultural heritage, Thailand has officially recognised native felines as national symbols. The government’s cabinet approved a proposal to designate five indigenous Thai cat breeds, including the Suphalak, Korat, Wichien Maat, Konja and Khao Manee, as national pet symbols, highlighting their historical significance and unique traits. The designation aims to protect these traditional breeds, preserve their heritage, and promote Thailand’s identity and creative industries.
