Dear Some Clients:

Recently we’ve had incidences of a few of you disrespecting, verbally abusing and blaming the medical staff because your pet’s vaccinations or heart worm prevention or rechecks are overdue.

Please note that it is part of your responsibility as pet owner to take note of these important dates.
Your attending vet has already given you a schedule for rechecks or revisits on your pet’s vaccination card and med schedule. Take note of them and set alarms on your smart phones which are always near or in your hand.
If you make an appointment ahead, we will remind you of your appointment in the morning or the day before.
But if you miss it, it is your responsibility to reschedule.

Renal and Urinary Diets have been a big help in managing our kidney failure and urinary obstruction patients over the years.

We are very encouraged to learn that the expanded line now offers more tailored nutritional options for different stages of kidney disease, as well as for patients with different types of uroliths; that allows for more individualized and targeted patient management.

ECGs are often misunderstood.
To many, they are just long squiggly lines on paper.

But to us, an ECG tells an important story — how electrical signals are initiated and conducted through the heart, allowing the heart muscle to contract in a coordinated, effective way.

A heart can appear structurally normal yet still have dangerous rhythm disturbances. Heart disease is not only about enlarged hearts or murmurs — the electrical system matters too.

Dr. Laurent Locquet—a veterinary cardiologist and European Diplomate—has a rare gift: he makes complex cardiology practical, clear, and far less intimidating, especially for those just starting out.

AKVH is proud to have partnered with the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines to bring Dr. Locquet back—this time for a wider audience in Metro Manila. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to help elevate cardiology practice among Filipino veterinarians.

In 2025, Dr. Locquet worked closely with the AKVH team through an exclusive lecture and hands-on echocardiography workshop. This year, our young vets, Dr. Jasmine Amparado and Dr. Coleen Laygo, continued that learning by joining his Manila lectures.

AKVH looks forward to continuing this journey—learning, improving, and raising the standard of care—with mentors like Dr. Locquet guiding the way.

Happiness is to be taught by an excellent teacher.

Dr. Ging had the privilege of training under Dr. Hock Gan Heng—one of the most respected mentors in radiology and ultrasound.

Dr. Heng (formerly of Purdue University) is strict and at the same time his teaching style is very engaging, fun and practical. He is a treasure trove of useful, practical and deeply clinical insights that are immediately applicable to the patients we see every day.

We look forward to continuing this journey of learning and sharpening our diagnostic skills.

Foreign Body Obstructions are part of our daily life at AKVH.
Our pets can be curious and will eat anything.
We’ve taken out corn cobs, mango seeds, whole belts with buckles, socks, underwear, toys, batteries, yes- even s*x toys from inside their stomachs and intestines.
Always be careful with your things around the house.
One never knows what our pets might think is edible. 👌👍😃
