🚨 IVERMECTIN TOXICITY IN DOGS 🐶💊

Ivermectin is a valuable antiparasitic medication when used correctly, but overdoses—or use in susceptible dogs with the MDR1 (ABCB1) gene mutation—can cause life-threatening neurological toxicity.

⚠️ Early warning signs may include:
🐾 Ataxia (loss of coordination)
🐾 Tremors or muscle twitching
🐾 Excessive drooling
🐾 Dilated pupils
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
🐾 Seizures
🐾 Coma in severe cases

Certain breeds, including Collies, Australian Shepherds, Shetland Sheepdogs, Old English Sheepdogs, Border Collies, Long-haired Whippets, and Silken Windhounds, may be at increased risk if they carry the MDR1 mutation.

✅ Never use livestock ivermectin products in dogs.
✅ Always follow your veterinarian's prescribed dose.
✅ Seek emergency veterinary care immediately if toxicity is suspected.
