Let me introduce you to our team!

My name is Izzy I am the head coach, admin, and horse owner!
This job is my passion and I am so grateful to share it with all of you. 🥰

Minnie is a 14.2hh Standardbred Mare. She is my first pony and the favorite of the riding school. Minnie is kind and gentle but with just the right amount of sass to keep us all on our toes! 🩷

Elvis is a 16.3hh Standardbred Gelding. He only has one eye! Elvis has only a few students who work with him as he needs older more mature students to help him gain confidence with riding again after losing his eye. He is just a big teddy bear! His favorite thing is cuddles in the sun. ⚡

Dream is a 14.3hh Throughbred and Quarter Horse cross she is our oldest horse here at the riding school and is retired.
She loves being brushed in the sun and long lead walks down the road. Dream is not a ridden horse due to her age but she still loves to be lead around and brushed. 🌻

Arrow is a 9hh miniature pony. Arrow teaches the younger preschoolers and smaller children to ride. He is gentle and kind with a very sassy personality once he gets comfortable. 🏹

Boh is a 9hh miniature pony and is Arrows best friend! Boh mostly does the cart rides but will occasionally teach a riding lesson or do pony lead rides. Boh is very sassy, she loves attention and food. 🎀

Hello my name is Izzy!

I run horse riding and horsemanship classes during the day for homeschool children, preschoolers and adults.

My passion is to help you create a connected and lifelong bond with horses and to help you reach your goals while working with the horse in a partnership.

I structure lessons to the individual student and only work one on one. In my experience as an instructor everyone learns differently and here I try to create an environment that helps my students grow in a comfortable and safe environment.

I have been working with horses for 10+ years and I started my business Out West Natural Horsemanship in July 2023.
Over this time I have worked with numerous students who have ADHD, Anxiety, Autism and other neurodiversities. It is my passion to help my students to reach their goals with horses and to provide an inclusive and safe environment for people who have struggled to find a riding school that suits them.

Overall my horses come first, they are the reason my riding school exists and I will never push them to work with a student they don't feel comfortable with. My horses are very special to me and I respect their emotional well-being over my income.

Out West Natural Horsemanship is my passion and I'm so excited to share it with you! ❤️🐎

Me and Boh have been competing in the Born to Run Challenge this month and are seeking donations for fundraising for a Paddock Paradise Track System so that I can rescue and foster Miniature Ponies for rehabilitation and rehoming. 🐎🐴🦄

I'm passionate about smashing my fitness goals and building my horses fitness alongside my physical training. 🏋🏻‍♀️

I'm a member of Selwyn Cadet Unit so I'm always looking for a way to combine fitness and my love of horses to get stronger and fitter. 💪🏻

So far together me and Boh have walked over 100km together and are keeping up our walking everyday to see how far we can go before the end of the month. 🚶🏻‍♀️🐴

I wanted to share the reason and inspiration behind making this page.

A couple of weekends ago we brought home a horse who had lost her purpose at her previous home and was found not to be a suitable prospect for her current owner, so she was being moved on again.

When I met this mare I knew I had to buy her ... she seemed so sad but yet so eager to please.

She had an injury to her leg, rain scald on her back, needed worming, had a lot of body issues and just needed some love.

She was misunderstood and her behavioural issues were actually just because she was feeling unsafe and sore.

As soon as we brought her home we gave her a nutritious meal which she hadn't had in a very long time - she loves her food!

Over the weeks I have started to work with her a little bit on the ground and have found her such a dream to work with and is just so sweet.

She will excel at anything we do with her as she is so willing and sensible.

She is proof that just because a horse has lost their intended purpose, it doesn't mean that they have no purpose at all.

I created this page to document Dreams progress and also that of the other horses in our wee herd.

It will also be a space to celebrate the achievements of my more advanced students.

Hi I'm Izzy!

I made the journey to becoming a coach because I believe every horse deserves dignity, safety, and love. That's why I'm dedicated to training horses and humans using compassionate, understanding HHHL (Happy Horse Happy Life) methods.

But my mission goes beyond just training horses and humans. I am passionate about providing a haven for horses who've been left behind - those who have lost their purpose due to behavioural challenges, age, or injury etc.

These incredible animals, often deemed 'unusable' or 'unwanted,' come to me seeking a second chance. And that's exactly what I give them.

Through patience, understanding, and gentle guidance, I help these horses to:
Regain trust and confidence Heal from past traumas Discover new purposes and passions Feel safe, loved, and valued Regain their dignity
