We’re so close to reaching the fundraising goal to save 15 northern Kaimanawa horses from aerial culling, and the muster date has now been set.

Yesterday it was officially confirmed that the muster will take place during a suitable weather window between 10–22 August, with the operation expected to proceed on the earliest possible dates within that period, subject to safe flying conditions for the helicopters.

With the date now locked in, applications to rehome a horse will close on 31 July. At this stage, Kaimanawa Heritage Horses has received just one application, meaning 14 more homes are urgently needed for this lifesaving operation to go ahead.

For those wanting a horse professionally started before taking it home, we currently have 5 of our 6 training spaces still available. If you would like us to tame your horse before it joins your family, please email [email protected] for more information.

Can we take a sec to appreciate my darling boy??? 😭🥰 Love him so much! Took him down to the rest home and he napped like this for 3 hours! (Yes he's in pink cause it's Charlies first set and all that fits him at the moment lol). At 15 weeks he's just hit 3kg and is such a cruisy wee fella. Definitely going through a lanky, street cat looking phase at the moment 🤭🫣 Looking forward to introducing him to show life and seeing if he can work a crowd as well as his daddy did 🙏🖤🩶 Kailukicoons New Zealand Latasha Renee Walker
