April was nothing short of overwhelming for our little rescue team.
On average, at least one cat or kitten came into our care every single day. From Okains Bay to Teddington, Purau to Wainui, the need across the Peninsula has been enormous and yet, despite the pressure, the late nights, the emotional toll, and the fact that most of our ground team juggle full-time jobs alongside rescue work, we are incredibly proud to say that we did not turn a single animal away.
Not one.
That simply would not have been possible without the amazing people who stand beside us every step of the way.
To our foster carers, you are beyond incredible. You open your homes and your hearts to frightened, vulnerable animals, giving them warmth, safety, patience, and love while they begin their journey towards forever homes. What you do truly changes lives.
To every person who has adopted from us, thank you for choosing to rescue and for giving these beautiful cats and kittens the loving homes they deserve. Watching them find their people makes every difficult moment worthwhile.
To everyone involved in humane trapping and transport, thank you for heading out in all weather conditions, often going far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, to ensure these animals get the help they need. Your dedication means cats receive treatment, desexing, care, and ultimately the chance of a safer, happier future.
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to the incredible Vetlife team, especially Rachael, Dionne, and Sandy — who go the extra mile (or 500!) time and time again to help us provide urgent care and support whenever it’s needed. We are endlessly grateful for your compassion and generosity.
Rescue truly takes a village, and we could not do this without every single one of you. 🖤🐾
