🐾 Thinking of Adopting from The Meow House? Here's How It Works 🐾

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about how adoptions work here at The Meow House, especially for anyone interested in giving one of our cats or kittens a loving forever home.

I run a small self-funded cat rescue based in Tolaga Bay, New Zealand. All of the cats in my care live in a homemade cattery on my property—a warm, safe space just for them, where they get love, care, and time to adjust before heading off to their new forever homes.

What’s included with every adoption:
Each cat or kitten has been:
✅ Desexed (spayed/neutered)
✅ Flea treated and wormed
✅ Given their first/ second vaccination
✅ Socialized and cared for daily
📄 Proof of vet treatments will be provided upon adoption

Why I ask for a $50 adoption fee:
As this rescue is completely self-funded, I ask for a $50 fee per adoption. This helps cover the cost of desexing, flea/worm treatments, and vaccinations for the next cat or kitten that comes into care. Every dollar goes directly back into helping another life in need. 🐾

Visiting The Meow House:
Because the cattery is located on my personal property, visits are by appointment only, this can be organised by messaging the page. This ensures the safety of the cats and gives you a quiet space to meet them one-on-one.

What if things don’t work out?
I understand that sometimes, despite the best intentions, a cat or kitten might not be the right fit for your household. As part of our adoption policy, if for any reason you're no longer able to care for your adopted cat—or if the cat or kitten simply isn’t the right fit for your home—you are required to return them to The Meow House, no judgement. If any cat/ kitten is returned within the 2 week trial period you will receive your adoption fee back. This ensures they stay safe and continue to receive the care they need until we find them another loving home.
