🧁 CALLING ON OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY BAKERS! 🧁

We REALLY need your help! Our Cupcake Day stall is happening at the Thames Market next Saturday 12th September, and we need plenty of delicious baking to fill our tables and help raise much-needed funds for the animals in our care.

And don’t worry — it doesn’t have to be cupcakes! We happily accept all types of baking, including slices, biscuits, muffins, cakes, pupcakes and anything else you’d love to bake and donate.

📅 Baking needs to be dropped off on Friday 11th September
📍 Thames SPCA, 395 Ngāti Maru Highway, Thames

We would genuinely love to hear from anyone in our community who can lend a hand with baking. ❤️

🐾 The fantastic success stories keep coming! 🐾

We wanted to share another beautiful update about two very sweet puppies who came into our care after being dumped from a vehicle.

Right in front of a witness, these two little darlings were thrown out of a car and left behind. Thankfully, the right person was there to see what happened and stepped in to get them to safety.

Despite such a frightening start to life, both puppies were incredibly sweet, loving and trusting of people. They showed us just how resilient these little souls can be, and it wasn't long before they were ready to find their forever homes.

Now, we're thrilled to share one of their success stories!

💛 An update on Raine...

"Update on Raine.. the 1st week has been chaotic but rewarding. She has settled in very well. The 3 cats have let her know of the hierarchy in the house. Toilet training is coming along nicely. She is very intelligent and quick to pick up on training."

This is exactly why we do what we do. From being thrown from a vehicle and needing someone to step in and save them, to sleeping safely in a loving home and learning the rules from three resident cats — what an incredible journey.

We couldn't be happier for Raine and her family, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

Thank you to the person who witnessed what happened and gave these puppies the chance they deserved, and to their wonderful new families who have opened their hearts and homes to them.

Keep those success stories coming — we absolutely love hearing how our former residents are doing!

🤍 Anna’s Happy Ending 🤍

Anna spent the first five months of her life in and out of SPCA care, waiting for someone to see just how special she was.

Throughout her time with us, Anna’s warm, gentle nature quickly won over everyone she met. So, when we received a call from a psychotherapist looking for a new companion to join him in his work, we knew Anna could be the perfect match.

A month into her new life, Anna is settling beautifully into her role as a working dog! She is slowly learning the ropes in her new dad’s consulting rooms, although she is still working on understanding that the couch isn’t necessarily hers!

Anna now enjoys walking to work along the C*D and, best of all, her new dad says she gives him a wonderful reason to step away from the office for regular breaks.

Her owner has always chosen rescue dogs for their loyalty and character, and he says Anna is proving to be a brilliant companion.

From spending her first months waiting for her forever home to becoming a much-loved part of someone’s everyday life — we couldn’t be happier for this beautiful girl. 🤍

We’ll be heading down to the Thames Market on Saturday 12th September from 8am, ready to sell delicious cupcakes and raise much-needed funds for the animals in our care. 🐶🐱💕

Come down, grab yourself a cupcake (or two! 😉), make a donation, and stop for a chat with our wonderful staff and volunteers. We’d love to see you there!

🎉🐾 ANOTHER FANTASTIC MONTH OF ADOPTIONS! 🐾🎉

Thames SPCA has done it again! 💙

We are absolutely thrilled to share that 62 animals found their forever homes in August alone! 🏡❤️

And it gets even better… 🥁

🌟 We are incredibly proud to have ranked 3rd in the country for adoptions in August! 🌟

What an incredible achievement for our little centre and our amazing community. Every single adoption represents an animal getting their second chance, a family gaining a new best friend, and a whole lot of happy tails, purrs and wagging going around! 🐶🐱💕

But as we said last month… WE ARE NOT STOPPING HERE! 💪🔥

We’re heading into September with the same goal — finding as many of our animals as possible the loving forever homes they deserve.

And we want YOU to be part of the celebration! 🥰

🎉🐾 ADOPTION CELEBRATION! 🐾🎉

What a way to finish the week! 🥹💛 We’ve had some VERY exciting adoption news here at Thames SPCA, and we couldn’t be happier!

✨ 2 puppies + 2 adult cats found their forever homes TODAY! ✨

That’s FOUR happy tails heading out the door and into brand-new adventures! 🐶🐶🐱🐱🏡💕

And what makes it even more special? Some of their new families travelled all the way from Auckland and Hamilton to meet their new best friends and adopt from our little corner of the Coromandel! 🚗💨

We are SO incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to adopt, especially those who travel the extra distance to give a Thames SPCA animal a second chance at the happy ending they deserve. ❤️

Every adoption means a kennel or cattery spot becomes available for another animal who needs us — so these happy endings create even more opportunities for animals waiting in the wings. 🥰

🎉🐾 RECENT ADOPTIONS AT THAMES SPCA! 🐾🎉

There’s nothing better than seeing our animals leave the shelter with their bags packed and their hearts full, ready to start their next chapter. ❤️

Over the past little while, so many of our beautiful cats and dogs have found their forever homes, and we couldn’t be happier for them! 🏡🐶🐱

From playful puppies to sweet senior souls, shy kitties to confident companions, each one has had their own journey to get here — and now they’re heading home to the families who chose them. 🥰

A HUGE thank you to every person who opened their heart and home to a Thames SPCA animal. Your decision to adopt truly changes a life. 💕

And of course, we couldn’t do it without our incredible volunteers, fosterers and supporters who care for these animals every single day and help them get ready for their forever homes. You are a huge part of every happy ending! 🐾❤️

🐾🌙 Could you help us say goodnight? 🌙🐾

There’s something pretty special about being the person who gets to say goodnight to all the animals at Thames SPCA. ❤️🐾

We’re looking for some wonderful volunteers who can spare 2:30pm – 4:30pm, Tuesday to Saturday to help our team with the afternoon lock-up routine.

It might sound like a small job, but this is such an important part of the animals’ day. It’s a chance to make sure everyone is settled, comfortable and ready for a peaceful night before we leave for the evening. 🥰

🌟 What does the afternoon volunteer shift involve?
🐱 Filling up the cats’ water bowls
💧 Making sure everyone has what they need before bedtime
👋 Saying goodnight to our cats and dogs
🧼 Washing food and water bowls
🧺 Helping with washing and tidying
📦 Restocking supplies
🔒 Helping the team with the lock-up routine

And of course… plenty of “goodnight, see you tomorrow!” moments with our animals. 🥹❤️

You don’t need to be an animal expert — just someone who is reliable, caring and happy to get stuck in. Your help means our staff can focus on making sure every animal is settled for the night, and your presence can make a real difference to their day.

If you’ve been looking for a way to give back, this could be the perfect volunteer role for you. 🐾

🐾🖤 Meet River & Rain – Our Labrador Cross Duo! 🖤🐾

Looking for a puppy who will bring plenty of fun, laughter, cuddles and adventure into your life? Say hello to River and Rain! 🥰🐾

These two beautiful black Labrador cross puppies are full of personality and are at such a wonderful age where they are discovering the world, learning new things and, of course, making sure there is plenty of time for puppy mischief along the way!

💙 River is our handsome boy with a zest for life that is impossible not to smile at! He is playful, curious and loves being right in the middle of whatever is happening. River absolutely loves playing with other dogs and is always ready for a game, an adventure or a little investigation of something interesting. He and his sibling have already started learning some basic manners, including sitting before breakfast and dinner – although those wagging tails and excited little faces can make waiting for food quite the challenge! 😂

🖤 Rain is a gorgeous girl with a sweet little white patch on her chest and an equally sweet nature. She is curious, playful and affectionate, with a lovely gentle charm. Rain enjoys playing with other dogs and loves exploring her surroundings. She is also learning her basic manners and has been practising sitting before meals, as well as beginning to learn how to walk nicely on a lead.

Both puppies are bright, inquisitive and eager to learn. They are already getting a taste of training and are showing us just how much potential they have. They will need families who are ready to continue their training, socialisation and learning as they grow, while also giving them plenty of love, patience and opportunities to explore the world.

Whether they're racing around together, investigating something new or simply keeping an eye on what everyone else is doing, River and Rain are happiest when they're involved. 🥰

These lovely pups are ready to start the next chapter of their lives with families who will include them in everyday adventures, continue their learning and give them all the love that Labrador puppies are famous for returning tenfold.
