🐾 DOG VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – URGENT SATURDAY HELP! 🐾

Do you have a couple of hours to spare and love being around dogs? 🐶❤️

Thames SPCA is urgently looking for dog volunteers on Mondays and Saturdays, with Saturday mornings being our biggest need at the moment!

🙏 Can anyone lend us a hand tomorrow morning?

🐕 Helping out with our dog lock-up

Your job will be to clean up the dogs' nighttime beds and remake them with fresh, cosy bedding so our dogs have a lovely, comfortable place to snuggle up for the night. 🛏️🐾

Just look at the happy faces in our photos! These are some of the gorgeous dogs enjoying their lovely, freshly made beds thanks to our amazing volunteers. ❤️ It's a simple but important job that makes such a difference to their day.

We would be so grateful for anyone who can come in tomorrow to help us care for our dogs and keep everything running smoothly.

🖤 One Last Cat Looking for Love… Could It Be You?

Octavia is our last cat currently waiting for adoption at Thames SPCA, and we’d love nothing more than to see her find her forever family. She’s a friendly, affectionate girl who loves a good smooch and being close to her people. Whether it’s relaxing beside you on the couch or keeping you company around the house, Octavia would make a lovely companion. ❤️

You can come and meet Octavia at Thames SPCA during our open hours, Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–3pm. Pop in and see if she’s the one you’ve been looking for!

🐾 ADOPTIONS ARE THRIVING AT THAMES SPCA! 🐾

What a fantastic run of adoptions we’ve been having! ❤️ Our animals are finding their forever homes, and we couldn’t be happier seeing so many happy endings.

We currently have just ONE cat left available for adoption! 🐱 But don’t get too comfortable… kitten season is just around the corner, and we’re expecting to be filling up with kittens next month.

Meanwhile, our puppy pens have been busy with little paws coming and going! 🐶 It’s wonderful to see our puppies heading off to their new families, but every puppy adopted also means another space opens up for us to rescue and care for another puppy or dog in need. That’s what makes every adoption so special — it doesn’t just change one life, it helps us save another. 🐾

🐱❤️ FOSTER HOMES NEEDED – TWO MUMS AND 11 TINY PAWS! ❤️🐱

Kitten season is officially here at Thames SPCA, and we already have two beautiful feline families looking for loving foster homes! 🏡🐾

We currently have:
🐱 One mum with 5 little kittens
🐱 Another mum with 6 little kittens

That’s two mums and 11 tiny babies who need a safe, warm and loving home where they can grow, thrive and reach an adoption-ready age. 💕

Could you open your home to one of these little families?

We’re also looking for people who can join our regular kitten season foster team, helping us care for pregnant queens and mums with kittens as more little ones arrive throughout the season.

❤️ WE SUPPLY EVERYTHING FOR YOUR FOSTER PETS’ NEEDS!

From bedding, litter trays and litter to food, flea and worm treatments, we provide the essentials to help you care for your foster family, along with support from our SPCA team.

All you need to provide is your time, patience and love! 🥰

🐾 EVERY ADOPTION MAKES ROOM TO SAVE ANOTHER 🐾

Every day, our adoption numbers grow — and every single adoption is something we celebrate.

Of course, we are incredibly happy knowing another loving animal has found their forever home. But there is another very important reason we celebrate so much…

Every adoption opens up a space for another animal in need. ❤️

When one of our animals goes home, that kennel or cattery space becomes available for another sick, vulnerable or injured animal who needs somewhere safe to recover, receive care, feel loved and eventually find their own forever home.

Today we had a particularly special adoption. 🥹❤️

Our beautiful little Jellybean, a kitten with cerebellar hypoplasia (also known as wobbly cat syndrome), has found an absolutely wonderful home.

She is joining another cat with the same condition, and her new family has gone above and beyond to create a safe and enriching environment for them — including padded walls, ball pits and, most importantly, a whole lot of love, patience and understanding. 🐱❤️

Jellybean's adoption is extra special because it shows that animals with different needs can absolutely find amazing forever homes when the right people come along.

And now, Jellybean's space is open for another animal who needs us.

That is why every adoption matters. Every home means another life we can help. 🐾❤️

🚐🐾 ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL PETBUS DROP-OFF! 🐾🚐

Another PETBUS journey is underway, and this time we have two Thames SPCA puppies heading off to their new lives! ❤️

One little pup is travelling all the way to Wellington, while the other is heading to the South Island to meet their forever family. 🏡🐶

Two more stories that show Thames SPCA has no limits when it comes to finding the perfect homes for perfect animals. Sometimes their forever family is just a little further away — and we’ll do everything we can to help them get there! ❤️

FROM THAMES TO HIS FOREVER HOME ❤️🐾

We love nothing more than receiving updates from our adopters, especially when they come from all the way across the country! Heath now name Harlo travelled from Thames to the South Island via PETBUS, and it sounds like this wee guy has well and truly found his place. 🥰

Here’s what his family had to say:

"Wee Harlo has been nothing short of fantastic here, he has fitted in sooooooo well it has just been a breeze having a puppy again.

The main concern was him fitting in with our other inside dog a whooping 70+kilo Neapolitan Mastiff and him being 8 and a half yrs old it was either going to be a great decision or a not so good one, the 2 outside dogs no issues they love him to bits.

After slow introduction and having his own safe quarters where the Neo and Harlo could meet safely it all worked out and after a fortnight of keeping all slow and steady the 2 have become joint at the hip and are true brothers now 🙂 there has not been one bad interaction between either and they truly just love each other, thank goodness we now have the perfect awesome 4 some pack of hounds and myself and partner make up a perfect 6 pack lol.. All go strolling together and wee Harlo has really found his place and home here, we would not change anything!!

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Thames SPCA for calling us up and offering wee Harlo to us, they were second to none to deal with, communication was super and it was just such an easy process to proceed with and they helped out anywhere possible if I was unsure on anything ie like the adoption and pointed me in the right direction to get Wee Harlo booked in and on his way to the South Island.

I would also like to thank the Foster parents whom did a fantastic job with this we pup and gave him a fantastic home before his forever home 🙂 10/10 to you guys too..

He has found his forever home and we Love him to the moon and back, he is getting daily training, plenty of hugs and kiss's and laps it all up he is a true superstar... a few piccy's attached ...

Thanks again to you all that gave these Pups and all the other Rescue's a chance they could not do it with out you.

🐾 From one chapter to the next at Thames SPCA! 🐾

Just as we’re heading into kitten season, with three beautiful queens and their kittens currently in our care, we’ve adopted out our very last cat! ❤️

Miss Olive headed off to the most loving home today, officially clearing our cattery! But we know that won’t last long… kitten season is upon us, and before we know it, we’ll be buzzing with kittens again. 🐱

Keep an eye on our website from next week, as we’ll have two sweet black 6 month old kittens looking for a home. And as we all know, things can change every day at Thames SPCA so keep checking our website daily!

Speaking of things changing every day… check out our fantastic new tallyboard, lovingly made by one of our wonderful volunteers. It’s so exciting watching the number grow!

Today, a young boy came in with his grandparents to finalise the adoption of a puppy and proudly updated the board to include his new furry family member. 🥰

And just like that, 426 loving animals have found their homes through Thames SPCA so far in 2026! 🎉

We can’t wait to see that number keep growing. ❤️🐾

🐾 CAT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT THAMES SPCA! 🐾

We are currently desperately looking for more cat volunteers to join our Thames SPCA team!

With kitten season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to fill these volunteer spots so we have a fantastic team in place before things get extra busy. Our cats and kittens rely so much on our amazing volunteers for care, attention and plenty of love. ❤️

We currently need:

🐱 Tuesday: 1–2 volunteers
🐱 Wednesday: 1–2 volunteers
🐱 Friday: 1 volunteer
🐱 Saturday: 1–2 volunteers

⏰ Shifts are 8am–10am, although you are very welcome to stay longer if you have the time!

Our cat volunteers help with things like feeding, cleaning, fresh water, laundry and, of course, giving our cats some much-needed attention and enrichment.

If you have a couple of hours to spare and would love to make a real difference to the cats in our care, we would love to hear from you!
